Ok, as we allready know 4hi 1st has a bit more speed than 4lo 3rd, but the converter can't be locked in 1st. How much power is lost because the converter is not locked??? Is there a mathimatical way to figure it out, or its a percentage of your power???

Run it on the dyno with 4th locked then unlocked, see what the differance is.

Give Kennedy a call. He is doing some TC testing on the dyno. If he hasn't already tested it I bet he'll do a run for you.

You won't get too close in my experience, especially under heavy load and high power. I only pulled in Hi once and the RPM vs wheel speed is terrible. The lateset converter from Suncoast does definitely get more power to the ground and run at lower RPM vs mph, but it still doesn't match locked and that is testing at only 305 RWHP. The accompanying plot shows two different converters running unlocked and a single locked plot and shows how RPM matches MPH. Converter B in both cases ran with less RPM to get the same mph and is what I am runing now. I do plan to change out at least 2-3 more times:eek: before making a decision.
BTW, converter B seems to get the shifts done with the VA most every time so far. The only other converter to do that was my first ATS unit...
