For some reason I have major anxiety when working on the silverado, she's my baby :) with our other cars I put jack stands under and don't have any worries - but with this monster I get skittish.

I jacked up the front as close to the wheel as I could and put the stands in - I 'm worried they are too far back - they are right next to the horizontal support. looking inside the frame it hollows out right there and there is a weld line.

is this OK?

put them right where the body mounts are and it will be ok

no , more to the front where the bracket is with the big rubber bushing that holds the cab of the truck onto the chassis
where your step pipes mount to, but put the stands under the chassis. charlie
