Anyone ever replace the mirror glass on the outside mirrors? ’03-’04 GMC?
Have a crack in the mirror on the right side, I have the GM replacement glass but not sure how to remove the old, install the new?
Anyone done this before?
Thanks!

Power extending mirrors? There is a clip you need to release at the bottom center of the glass on the inside. If you tilt it all the way up you should be able to see it. Then the Glass slides up or down, can't remember.

Off topic as he does not have these mirrors......but for the info in a search, the glass will slide up.

Mirror Face Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution
When working with any type of glass or sheet metal with exposed or rough edges, wear approved safety glasses and gloves in order to reduce the chance of personal injury.
Important
When removing electrochromatic glass that is broken, or if glass breaks during replacement, be cautious not to spill electrochromatic fluid on to vehicle. Doing so will cause damage to the vehicle.
Adjust mirror face as shown in picture to obtain access to mirror face retention clips(1).
Position flat-bladed tool between back side of mirror face and the adjuster mechanism as shown in picture.
With a twisting motion of the flat bladed tool, separate the mirror face from the adjuster mechanism by releasing the mirror face retention clips(1).
With mirror face in hand, disconnect the electrical connectors.
Remove the mirror face from the mirror housing.
Inspect the adjuster mechanism for damage.
Installation Procedure
Inspect the components for any damage. Ensure that the mirror face has all the retention clips in place.
Plug in the electrical connectors to the back of the mirror.
Align the mirror face retention clips with the adjuster mechanism.
Gently press the mirror back into the adjuster mechanism with the palm of the hand on the center of the glass until it locks into place.
Inspect the operation of the mirror.

Just one word of caution...you may break the mirror glass while removing it.

When I had to replace one of ours (my fault), I just broke the rest of the glass and removed it so I wouldn't have to worry about it. It's pretty easy to do, took me about 5 minutes, if not less.
