: Interval between oil changes
cperrino 09-01-2005, 11:16 AM hey guys,
according to my dealer, he says that i can trust the computer and change my oil when it says so. basically that is every 10,000 miles. it seems like a long time, when do you guys normally change your oil?
My dealer said the samething. But I change mine about every 8,000 or around 15% in the dic.
My dealer also says same thing but I change at 25%. Old habits die hard.
uReside 09-01-2005, 01:22 PM mine said the same thing, and as long as its covered under warranty, i'm going off the DIC.
Bodysurfer 09-01-2005, 01:29 PM Here is something funny...
Just got my oil changed at the dealer yesturday and they put one of those "oil change" reminder sticky things on my windshield and it said next oil change in 3000 miles.
 Ya right.....tech must still be thinking gasser!):h
LATER!
jwfab1 09-01-2005, 01:47 PM I wonder how many qts. he put in?
Utahski 09-01-2005, 02:03 PM My last two gas motors got new oil & filter every 3,000 and they ran beautifully with well over 200K miles. The factory says every 10K for the diesel....I may be completely wrong, but think that's way too many. Mine gets changed every 5,000 miles.
duffy 09-01-2005, 02:33 PM I was trying to wait until it said change oil, but I couldn't wait. I got almost 7,000 on that oil and changed it last night. I used 5-40 rotella synthetic from walmart. I did send an oil sample in just to see what it will say. If everything comes back good and says it is ok to run I may wait longer next time.
B-rad 09-01-2005, 03:00 PM 7500-8000 miles. amsoil heavy duty diesel 15-40. change the filter once between changes.
05PCFLMAX 09-01-2005, 03:12 PM I change mine every 7-8,000 miles. Delo-400 15w-40.
diesel man 09-01-2005, 03:17 PM every 5000 . moble one
CntrlCalDmax 09-01-2005, 03:21 PM 10,000 miles with Delvac 1
Shell Rotella here every 3.000 miles:eek: Hard habits are hard to break.
It may be overkill but its cheap insurance if you ask me.
I sold a 93 Aerostar recently with 252,000 miles (HARD MILES;) ) on the clock on a 3.0 motor. Oil changes every 3,000 miles. Still ran great and I beat on it Bad.

Kendall69 09-01-2005, 03:42 PM Every 15K wether it needs it or not. Delvac 1. Been doing analysis and even at 15k it comes back keep using good to use.
scottdiesel 09-01-2005, 05:05 PM Delvac 1300 Super every 3000 to 4000 miles.

My Dealer also.
While it is free for me, and that is what they say, I'll be there. :D
When I have to pay for it, it will be between 6000 and 8000mi.

coyotekid 09-01-2005, 07:21 PM I'm with Kendall 69 on this one. Oil analysis is the only way to go in my opinion. I know 10,000 miles + seems like a lot compared to what the oil companies have frightened us into, but oil analysis shows that I could easily go 20,000 miles on my Delvac 1.
To each his own...
Corsair 09-01-2005, 08:29 PM 10,000 miles Delvac-1, have not performed oil analysis. Upon draining old oil looks very good and clean, als.o using Mobil 1 oil filter
Bodysurfer 09-01-2005, 08:35 PM I have been doing the 10K oil change since I bought it. Just turned 30K on my truck. The service rep asked me if I want the 30K service done. What does that included? Did my tranny fuild at 25K...cant think of anything else.
