Well, from the other thread:
http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39811&page=4

Get your dealer ready to order on 9/8.
It certainly sounds like "Diesel Tech" knows what he is talking about:

The trucks now being built are LLY's and will continue to be LLY's until change over in Sept., here are answers to a few questions that I have recieved.

1) What date will these changes be made?

If the PTR (Plant Trial Run) is successful, the start of production may become tpw 9/19.

2) When will this new engine be available to order in VOMS
(9/8)

3. All orders in process with LLY and Allison will be changed to LBZ as of 9/26 production.

BLIZZARDPLOWMAN & the rest of you. F.Y.I. I just got off the phone to my "Little Birdies" & they agree with the story & answer above!! My plant will start replacing the LLY with the LBZ on 9/19. Happy ordering & I & Tim can get you a G.M.Supplier Dicount Authorization # if you need one. They currently expire on 2/23/06. All I ask is that you contact the dealer & verify that they will accept the G.M.S.D.A.# FIRST! We are only allowed 2 #'s per person per month & they are given to the person ordering,ONLY. They can't be given to someone else when the dealer refuses to honor the G.M.S.D.A#. After verifying that the dealer will honor the #, contact me OR TIM to get a #. Please send me a e-mail at my regular e-mail address so that I can keep they altogether,PLEASE. My e-mail is howard_m18@yahoo.com . Thanks in advance, Howard

Does any one know or speculate at what the price increase on the new LBZs will be when you can finally order on the 9/19?

Thanks Howard! Looking forward to tracking my new "baby" . I wish I could take you up on the offer for the supplier disc but my deal on the buy back is MSRP to MSRP. Update frommm dealer @ 10:15 am-- Still LLY if ordered this week as he has 3 for allocation with TPW of 9/26. I'm holing off untill next week and will check again.

My opinion and speculation is that the LBZ carries a $350 increase
for the engine itself, and that the "Employee Price" deal will end
on 2500HD and 3500 on Sept 30th. The $1000 rebate may remain
and be extended. Net result, LBZ 2006 will be $2350 more.

I put my money on this and bought an LLY '06. $2350 buys a lot of mods!

My order for the LBZ option came out to $500 CDN over the old LLY option price.

I went and drove an 06 today. Dealer says they honor the G.M.S.D.A.#. My wife and I will be in position to get a truck in May or June. We think we want to order a truck as to get the exact options we want. My questions are, will they honor the number if truck is "ordered" before 2-23-06 or do you have to take "delivery" before 2-23-06? Is the Friends and Family program scheduled to expire on 2-23-06 or is a number given out today going to expire at that time? Thanks in advance.

Went to order our '06 3500 today, was prepared to put a deposit down. The only option was the LLY, as I figured it would be. I told my dealer I wanted to make sure our truck would get the LBZ, he told me he could not confirm when it was going into production, which I figured he'd say.

We went ahead & built the truck but did not order. He said he will put my order in at his first available opportunity to be certain it's the LBZ.

Two years with out a d'max, whats a couple more days before we order another I guess.

WKAYL, the latest G.M.S.D.P.A.# that I gave out expires 3/4/06. You could wait till later in the year & get a # then. The # would expire after you made your move, I'm sure. If you need a # contact me = howard_m18@yahoo.com

Here's one thing I found. I called dealers and asked if they accepted Supplier certificates. Both times they said yes. But when it came time to actually sign the paperwork, both times they backed away for reasons like GM Card discount and incentives.

Howard graciously got me a number, but the dealers ended up reniging on it. Not Howard's fault, it's just the way the dealers I dealt with worked.

You guys are talking about supplier discount stuff....why? Are the new LBZ trucks not offered with employee discount like the current trucks are?

Do you think that GM will extend the employee discount again past 9/30 ?

I am hoping that they extend again. I went on GMC web page to build my truck and I am at 50k before the discount.

Howard - tell you what I am agona do for you. Dec is not toy time here - the white stuff, goosesh-t or snow, may cover the place. But, you come during normal weather, I'll let you drive the LBZ you're gonna help me save on, and the 57 Chev FI convert. To drive the blown 26 T, I'll need to have a rope around your privates so if you lose it, you really lose it. LOL.. Short wheel base, way too many ponies, leads to scary times for high school Howie.

Today I "officially" made my LBZ order and paid for it, BUT, order assistance person at factory order center told the dealer official order date for LB was not until the 12th. Sooooooooo, who knows what the 12th will bring.

Ditto, changed ordered date to today, reflected a $260 increase my cost for LBZ than the LLY quoted on Tuesday. Well worth it. Went ahead and threw in the dual 105amp alternators since the Heavy Duty Power Pack doesn't come with them, just dual batteries.

2wd CC/LB D/A 1LT in graystone metallic with dark charcoal custom cloth. other wise, most options. Will post pics when I take delivery.

I checked with my Dealer and he says the GM AutoBook and online order guide do not reflect the change to the LBZ engine yet. I told him about the post that was made here by Blizzardplowman, but he said he has not heard of any release date yet. Could it be that GM didn't up their website like they said they would. Maybe my Dealer is just a little slow. Ya I think that's probably what it is. I'll keep calling different dealers until someone says they know for sure.

Thanks,
burnan

When you order a vehicle, most dealers will accept any factory
promotions at the time you TAKE DELIVERY. So if GM was
still offering Employee (GMS) price for everyone when your
ordered truck arrives and is sitting on the lot, then you
could buy it using that pricing promotion.

In addition, whatever rebates they have at that future date
would apply. Many people believe that GM will not extend
the employee price promotion on 2006 model year vehicles past
the current schedule end date of 9/30/05. One sign is that
Ford has already dropped 2006 SuperDuty from their employee
price program. (Ford added their 2006 250SD before GM as well)
So GM does not have as much pressure to include them.

I checked GMBuyPower.com today and they have finally updated their website to show the LBZ option. So it's offical. Which means my slow in the brain dealers AutoBook should be updated too. I don't know why these guys don't have a clue. Needless to say he probably won't be my dealer anymore. I am looking for a good trade price for my 03 Silverado LT 2wd EC,SB, 36,000 miles. Been looking around pretty hard so I can order a new one. With all you guys ordering new ones, now I got the fever.

Unfortuanetly you're probably correct, although a few dealers I spoke with all said they'd be surprised if the GMS offer ended before the end of the '05 calendar year. If it does continue, they may make some revisions as to what now qualifies.

I'm hoping they extend it, my '06 is on order.

I'm in the market for a new rig as well and with gas jumping up and a new model year, stealers are going to have to have a program or these trucks will be paper weights for alot longer. Hope this rationale flys.
