Moms car, Noticed while looking things over the left rear brake rotor is obviously not being touched by the pad on the outside at least  . The outer surface of the rotor is as rusty and rough as the top edge of the rotor. I scanned it with my V2 for a different problem and there was an ABS code in there but didn't write it down. My ? is most times a caliper sticks when it applies and doesn't back off, never seen one seem to just not work.
Any ideas what's going on here ? She says it stops ok still. I'm pulling it apart on that wheel as soon as I get a chance.

Did you jack up the one side and apply the brakes and try to spin the wheel in question?

Didn't have a jack at the time but it's obvious the outer's not touching.

That doesn't mean the inner isn't.

You should be checking the ABS code as well since you know there is one.

There wasn't an ABS code when I scanned it this time. I'll post pics tonight but I pulled it apart and the inners touching.
Looks to me like someone ruined the brakes before she bought it, replaced just the pads and realized that wasn't going to work, replaced the rotors miles later, and the damage from the old rotors is affecting how the pad contact is now. Just because they havn't noticed this until now doesnt mean it hasnt been like this I guess.

Slide pins could be frozen and/or outboard pad corroded into bracket. That's what I see up here in MI anyway. Not sure how much of an issue corrosion is in TN.

You are exactly right common issue.

Both inner and outer pads were real snug in the bracket. Most times that causes premature wear though, not lack of wear. The caliper would still press it to the rotor.

So what are your brake pressures from left front to right rear?Easily checked with a pressure gauge or scanner?
It most likely is a simple repair.

Have no idea and no idea how to check it. Only scan tool I have is my V2 and not sure how I need to set it up to do this car.
