Just a question on how oil goes to the turbo. Does vacumn from the turbo spooling up create a oil going to the turbo for lubrication? Or is oil pumped to it for lubrication. I know the oil vapor from the CDR provides some lubrication. I have been checking the oil tube (the one coming out of front the engine block and enters the top of the turbo) and it has been dry. There is oil in the intake. Should this be a concern? Thanks in advance for any input.

The oil is fed through the braided steel line to the top of the turbo by oil pressure in the block from the engine's oil pump.

When you say dry, do you mean like dry or just not dripping with oil? Did you check it with the engine running or off?

Some oil in the intake is to be expected, just a light glaze normally, 99% of it is from Blowby past the CDR valve.

I checked it right after the engine shutdown. I ran it around the block and suspected the turbo was exceptionally loud. No oil coming out of the line. I pulled the line out and had no air restriction.

You better fix that right away. Turbos ain't cheap.

Well, that sounds like some thing really bad has happened. If the turbo is running dry, the bearings won't last but a few seconds, when they wear out the turbine and compressor wheel will drag and it will be noisy for sure.

Try just cracking the line while the truck is idling, just enough to verify whether there is lube oil pressure there or not.

I assume you do show good oil pressure on the dash and the oil level is OK right?

Pull the inlet pipe off and check the side/end play on the shaft, see if the wheel is rubbing on the inside of the cover too.

Ok where do I start, the line comes out of the front engine block. Please let the bad vibes go away.

Like TDG said, crack the oil feed line at the turbo (the braided stainless steel one) while idling and make sure you have an oil supply.
