Im told that the military 6.2 can run on fuel oil, can any 6.2 run on fuel oil??? Or is this a lie??? If it can run on fuel oil what makes it able to do this and not a non military 6.2???

The only considerable difference in a 'military spec' pump and a 'civilian' pump is the transfer pump blades and liner are low lubricity spec in the military applications so they can run JP-8 and not wear out as fast. The difference is not that big of a deal.

Any 6.2 will run on diesel, kerosene, JP-8, fuel oil, bio-diesel and many other things, but they won't all perform the same and the dryer fuels will need lubricity/cetane improvers.

Wow that’s pretty cool, especially with the way fuel prices are now. I was wondering which military vehicles were equipped with the 6.2 engines?

I think it was in '92 they stopped the 6.2 but for the military i dont know. Most chevy trucks and blazers I seen had the 6.2, lots of blazers.

The current Hummers run either 6.2L, 6.5L non turbo, or as they get up upgrade with better armor protection they get the 6.5L turbo diesel. All the pickups and blazers they still have in service have the 6.2L in them. This is all according to my brother in law that is a captian in the army with the first armored division.

There are some hmmwvs, under a different name, that are completely un armored with 6.5TD engines and O/D automatic trannys.

hypothetically speaking, what needs to be added to the kerosene to make it safe for the 6.2? is it some over the counter product that can be bought at a auto store? the gas station i go to sells kerosene for about a buck 30. i always looked at the kerosene pump and wondered what vehicles use that pump.
