I'm looking at goats and have just realized (showing my ignorance) that while looking at a 2003's and 2004's I could be test driving a truck with anywhere between 250-325 HP. That's huge! If I were to get an 03 with 250hp would a performace chip make up the difference? Has Dodge just manipulated the computer to get more power in the engines with 300 or 325hp? Would 'chipping" a 325hp truck be worse than a 250hp truck from a tranny, turbo or motor perspective?

Just trying to avoid any problems down the road and determine which motor to look for when I'm shopping.

I n 2003 you could get 250 or 305 HP unless u got the cali smog motor at 235 or 230 .THe 2004 has the 305 555 in it and the 2004.5 has the 325 600 and the 2005 has 325 610 I dont really think there is much differance in the 610 and 600.
