: Looking at replacing 05 D/A with 06

I am looking at ordering an 06 2500HD with D/A powertrain within the next month or so. I wanted to confirm that the 06 models have the overheating problem cured.

I am in the process of getting my money back on the lemon law on my 05 GMC 2500HD Duramax/Allison that has less then 4000 miles and has severely overheated multiple times. My lawyer says that the process should complete in the next 3 - 4 weeks.

I want to order an 06 with the higher output Duramax and the 6 speed AT.

Also, I need to get my ducks in a row before buying another GM, as my wife is after me to buy a Dodge :-(. She is telling me "I told you so" after I paid $6500 more for a GMC 2500HD with D/A than a Dodge 3500 with CTD/NV5600. She doesn't understand that the Dodge may be cheaper up front, but the D/A will be much better than the CTD/ 6 speed in the long run.

I am definitely a GM man and will be buying an 06 ( when I get my money :-), just need to verify that this OH problem is fixed for good.

Thanks

The LBZ starts production the last week in September. So there won't be any of those out to talk about. On the LBZ & '06 part of this forum, some members talk about the changes they see under the hood on the '06 models with the LLY. I have spoken with GM engineers that I know about the diesels, they are future product guys, and they rave about the new LBZ with the 6-speed. I asked them about overheating with the LLY and they had no knowledge of it.

reply to red eagel...

I have gotten the same reply from the dealers / GM on the overheating - what are you talking about, there is no overheating problem. It took 3 things boil over my 05.

temps 90 degrees or higher
load - 10,000 lb trailer
long hills or sitting in traffic...

I was in these condtions 3 times - it bolied over 3 times, last time so bad it fried the transmssion :-(

I will be so glad to get another truck ( And quiet my wife)

THanks

The people I was talking to only work on future product and have no experience with field performance.

There is no way your vehicle should overheat the way it does, but it does and that is an issue and the way you have been treated is less than acceptable. I hope you are going with a different dealer with your '06. I have had varying experiences with Chevy dealers. I have had to write a letter or two to the owners of dealerships to get some of their people to wake up and fly right. Conversely, I have also written to dealerships to thank them when I received exceptional service from one of their employees.

...............and amen to quieting down the wife......a guy can take some people telling him "I told you so"......but NOT  from the wife!
