moving to exhaust section. Welcome aboard, please keep the main sections for engine specific stuff. Thanks

there are a few threads already going in this section about what you want.

05banksduramax- Welcome to the site! We sell/use MBRP and Silverline exhaust sytems as we believe them to be the best on the market. Best sounding? Thats a matter of opinion. What you will get with either system is a lower rumble with increased turbo whistle. The note is by no means loud especially in the cab. If you want it louder, get a front pipe to delete your catalytic converter. Hope this helps.

I like my 5" exhaust straight piped with no cat. Its tolerable while cruising and loud when you get on it. With the radio off it is noticable while cruising. I don't tow, but it would probably be loud towing. It is all about what you want/ prefer. I like it loud. There is alot of options out there and several threads about different exhaust systems.

I have MBRP from turbo back. Nice rumble and it makes the turbo sing just right. Only downside is soot on the bumper and behind exhaust.

I have a Corsa 4" cat-back on mine. Pennsylvania has emissions inspection, so removing the cat is not an option for me. The Corsa has absolutely no drone or resonance to it, and I installed it in 45 minutes. The Corsa system is a GM licensed product as well.

05banksduramax,

Best sound is of course all customer preference, but I will tell you we get lots of comments on the MBRP "sound"! Concerning your question on the cat removal, you have a 50/50 chance you will or won't get a check engine light if you remove the cat. I always suggest to our customers that they get the MBRP system and bolt it on, it uses the 4 bolt flange and is easy to do. Check your EGT's and see if you need more drop in temp, if so then add the front pipe. If and when you add the front pipe you get a light contact Fingers here on this site and get the "fingers fix", this way you get what you need and see the change as you make the changes if you need to! Might save you a buck or two as well. Call us we have had all the questions and will be glad to help you with them.

Just recently put 5" stacks no muff/cat and I love it. The first test drive nearly got me a citation when a cop followed me thru town. Hard to keep quiet though. They sound real good from idle and going thru the gears but it turns annoying when I floor it. Get alot of attention and thumbs up.:ro)

Best sounding exhaust by a wide margin is ATS. (also the most expensive) Next best is MBRP. Give Mark Craig a call. tpitt

Dmax/Hemi,
Yes, we do have emissions, but diesels are exempt from those inspections...so they will never know what is or isn't there.....that's why mine went away.:ro)
Look on your registration, it should say :Emissions required/Diesel vehicles exempt.:cool2:

To get back on topic, I like my home brewed kitty delete, Banks monster and MBRP muffler delete, sounds real good. But not everybody is going for the same sound. Knowing what I know now, I would have bought one system that was 4" from the downpipe back and already had no cat/muffler (like a full MBRP system) and saved myself a ton of time and hassle by constant messing with the exhaust, but hindsight is always 20/20, and I am totally stoked with how it sounds.

I have 4" str8 pipe and love it. It is tolerable when driving and not too bad when towing. You should take a ride in some trucks at a local pull or at the drag strip. Just listen and the ones you like ask what they have.

Are there any systems that give the power increase,EGT drop, less drone and easy on the ears?
