Ok so I called the first place (closest to me). They do delivery only. Can't give me a price quote. And they don't have any on hand.

All he'd tell me is we charge the same price as on road #2 or a little more.

Why base it on the price of #2. :badidea:

... called the 2nd place. B10 only. You have to order 3000 gallons before they will even consider doing anything higher.

SO anyone in or around the northern ky area want to split 3000 gallons with me? I'll take 500 of it.

That was my point when I asked if anyone knew of any Biodiesel stations near where I am, and was told to look at the biodiesel.org site.

I've called all of the places relatively close by me (50 miles) and I've not accomplished anything. I checked both sites.

Go further. Plan it around other events.

Delivery trucks have rounds too.

I'd buy 500-700 gallons if the price is right and my tanks are empty.

I just looked on the site and a place near me sells B20. I will get a tank in the next few days and see what it does.

That's the story I got from the local coop here too. I was not a happy camper and the guy knew it. Unfortunately, that is going to be the common story. That is why we need more local producers outside the "normal" fuel delivery chain.

I couldn't believe they were telling me that. It kind of shocked me. I knew they would raise prices as there was more demand but I didn't expect them to just come out and say it will be at least the price of #2.

Sorry to here of the problems with locating soy/biodiesel. I use a 2% blend I get in bulk deliveries and that adds $.02/gal. I grow the beans so I figure if I don't use it who will? Please keep looking and asking for it, the market will supply if there is a demand.

I can get B2 or B10 either one. I was hoping to get a little higher than that. At least B50.

you would think that this spike in gas prices would be a great opportunity for biodiesel producers and distributors to get the product out there. there should be no link between this and diesel prices, especially for B20 as it is only 20% #2. bio from soy and waste oil should be MUCH cheaper, but plain greed runs rampant in this industry as well........................

I would pry do the same thing too.

It makes little business sense to lower prices and run out of inventory.

Other way around, b20 is 20% bio, b99 is 99 % bio...

But yeah, there should be less link than there is...

I agree with the above statement. I do want to be able to buy the stuff. If it is the same price as diesel #2, I am happy with that. I want biodiesel for several reasons...

1. My truck runs great on the stuff - so quiet and smooth; unbelievable.
2. My money isn't going to make some arab family just a little bit richer than they need to be.
3. My money isn't helping to boost the profits of an oil company that doesn't really deserve it.
4. Much rather have some of the money go to an american farmer.
5. My injectors and fuel pump are very clean and happy on the "slippy" stuff. Great lubricity.

Besides - when the cost of energy goes up - the cost of producing and delivery of the biodiesel goes up. Let's see, all of the below require diesel to deliver this product to me...

1. The farmer's truck.
2. The farmer's combine.
3. The train carrying the biodiesel to portland, oregon
4. The tanker truck carrying the biodiesel to the station.

I know it would be nice if #1 though #4 all ran biodiesel - but you know that this ain't the case.

The price of fuel going up will ripple through the economy - everything goes up - including biodiesel. Even if you live right next door to a biodiesel plant - it still costs more to deliver all the materials to their door.

BTW, from my memory, every spike in energy prices has been followed by a nasty dip in the economy, as in recession. The only thing that will float the economy through this is that congress is pumping 10 billion dollars into rebuilding the cities that should just be bulldozed. Anybody else thing it's a good idea to rebuild New Orleans just a little further inland and, just a little bit above sea level, instead of a few feet below it! Nuts!

I know this will sound harsh but I want to say it.

Our government is expected to give out money for every little thing that happens in this world. Tsunami, war, drought... you get the picture. When something happens here who returns the favor?

Sure there will be forgein ships bring us fuel on a temporary basis. They will make a great profit doing so.

If other people want to look down on us for fighting a war in Iraq or Afghanistan let them do it. Just don't ask me for a dollar out of my pocket when something happens to you.

Sorry about that... I will step off of my soapbox now.

OK, my turn for a  . Anybody STILL think it's a good idea to give all your guns to the government and count on them to protect you from everything? I'll keep my family protected, thanks. In this state it isn't easy. over

You know the democraps, brady bunch et al will think that until they day they die. We need to keep the democraps out of power and silence the anti-gun sheep.

The local bunghole who supposedly has bio NEVER answers his phone or returns messages. I'm guessing he re-treads pencil erasers full time and sells biodiesel on slow days.
