This is a 66/71 LB7 turbo should make around 45 to 50lbs of boost. Should have it on the truck as soon as it gets back from paint!!!

How bout a little more in depth explanation? Exhaust housing cracks? Compressor housing cracks? Is it something that can be overcome with a a little 4099 rod and a spool gun?

The shop i work at has been doing a ton of machining for a guy here in NY that claims he is doing alot of business with empire diesel, we are machining a ton of exhaust housings out scary thin and the builder has been confident all the while.

There is not enuff material on the inducer side for that big of a compressor wheel and I hope they are upgrading the shaft they are also weak Trust me I am cheap also but there simply isnt a cheap alternative for the lb7 turbo and if your going for an edge in the work stock class and your rules state a stock appearing turbo...well i have mixed op... about that also

Why do you guys think fleece stopped making there lb7 cheeta turbos. There was also another maker of them on duramaxforum(freddy) and I beleive all the turbos he made didnt last long either.

That's ok with me!!! Rules here are Stock Appearing!!! or in IN. 2.5 housing should be good on both

So that thing is a true 2.5 bore for Indiana rules?

teamblueyam450
09-01-2011, 09:39 AM
Got two housings one that is 2.6 and other it 2.5. The one in the pic is 2.6. Ill just change the cover per pull!!! take about 20 mins.

FarmDiesel22
09-03-2011, 01:47 AM
Yeah but Indiana is true bore 2.5. So if that is a 2.6 wheel just putting a 2.5 cover on won't work for Indiana rules.

dont mean to rain on your parade but good luck keeping that in one piece X2 I had the same set up and had to put bearings in it 3 times in one year, not good, bent the shaft the last time,it did make 36 lbs of boost and ran good for 5 to 6 weeks after the new bearing

The bearing housing is not stock!!! Dont even have the coolant hook ups any more. The shaft is 2 times bigger than the stocker SOOOOOOO The only things that are the same is the exhaust housing and intake housing. Everything else bigger

Well, ol Ronnie brought in a real familiar looking exhaust housing today, i didnt get a chance to look at it, but it needs to be bored out for the center section he brought with it...... Im gonna have closer look tomorrow, i was to busy today.

All I got to say is see yea!!! This mother Fer runs. Dont give 2 cents what anyone of you say. This turbo has never been done before. RCD built the turbo. They have built a 64mm 66mm (mine) and a 71mm. I have a Phantom 2 Auto Meter gauge that reads 35 max boost. Im going to need a 60 psi gauge.

I THOUGHT it was an IHI housing, when i actually looked at it, its a holset, but it is something he built for a duramax.

1st pull with the new turbo. Had the turbo gated at 38lbs. Still running stock sticks, pump, and no studs!! let out at the end. Bent the ladder bars. Still ended up 3rd place with that run. Very happy with the RPM and MPH pick up down down the track!!

Thats a healthy chunk of change for what your getting, lots of comparable chargers that come with a pedestal and other parts that give you room to grow. Im not saying its not worth it, i was just hoping it would be more in the 2-2500 range.

Im sure you could talk them down!! Give them my name and tell them I sent you. My truck runs very well. Im super happy with my set-up. Ill be going to the drags this Sat. to see what she will do. Not going to push it to hard. Just running 38lbs of boost. No studs yet!!!

So I ran a 12.46 @ 109.6mph in Byron today @ the Diesel Black Out Days!! Stock injectors, Stock CP3, and my new junk LB7 turbo. 2nd fastest Dmax of the day. Nick (Duramaxtuner) had the fastest time. Very happy with my numbers. I was only pushing the turbo 38lbs as I dont have head studs till this winter.

Not saying I recommend it, but I ran stock sticks, dual fuellers, and a S475 with the stocker running 58psi of boost on a LLY for a season and a half of pulling.... And I had well over 100 hooks on the same motor with the stock turbo and EFILive at 1800+ degrees before the twins and dual fuellers went on.... Finally cracked a piston and broke a rod and windowed the block, all 8 rods were bent to some extent and I had stock head bolts without any head gasket issues... I left them in hoping to be the weak link, but that didn't prove to be true.
