do the lb7 run as hot as the llys as far as egts? if so is it because of the turbo. Does the multi vane turbo run hotter than whatever kind of turbo the lb7 had? Also how hot is to hot for egt's i have heared that 1300 sustanined is to hot is this right. because i can hit that pretty easily with my hypertech level 2 and stock lly exhause. so what is a safe egt range

Nobody knows... the LB7 will not be available until later this fall.

Well actually the LB7 is what we call the original, first gen Dmax produced from '01 to early '04.

I'm running into the same problems with my LLY as far as EGTs go--I try to not go more than 1300 continuous.

I'm going to try 4" exhaust with no catalytic converter and minimum muffler if any at all.

It seems to me that most LB7s run slightly cooler, but it also seems to me that all the Dmaxes run hotter than the Cummins and Powerstrokes when comparing like HP numbers.

How are you guys getting the egt? Do you use a anal thermometer in the tailpipe?

:rotflmao::gr_grin::funnypost. Rectal is definitely the most accurate!

In my opinion, 1300 is ok for very short duration. Hopefully your Pyrometer probe is in the manifold, not the tubo pipe. The valves, pistons, and exhaust manifold can handle 1500. It is the turbo that does a melt down under sustained heat extremes. The multi-vane turbo does not produce heat. LB7's run slightly cooler because of the newer fuel rail design (in part)
