I have been comparing gooseneck trailers and was wondering what everyone's experience has been with triple axle trailers. I know that they supposedly scrub the tires a lot more than a dual tandem, but I have also read that they take some of the pin weight off of the truck (which would be nice with my 2500) and also they are about 2000lbs lighter than a comparable dual tandem. It sounds like they might be a good solution for someone who wants to haul heavier loads with a 3/4 ton but doesn't want to lug around a heavy trailer all the time.
What is everyone's opinion who has had one of them? Or both a triple axle and a dual tandem?

I have hauled hay with one for 20 years. My hay farmer even copied mine for his own trailer. Sharp turns on asphalt while loaded are a bad plan, but that is all I have ever run into. I have more problems keeping from overloading it.

I have a 50ft w/triple 7000# axle flatbed used to haul cars around. You definately have to watch sharp turns on asphalt, but sometimes you just cannot help it. I have broke wheel studs from this, but with a good maintainence plan you can catch these things. If you go with the Dual Tandem... plan on spending BIG $$$ on drums, brakes and bearings almost double that of a single axle! They do turn better but cost more in the long run.

I like the triple axle because you can readily see a flat, and I like the thought of having 2 more seperate brakes. We tow with both and a tandem dually will knock your teeth out on a bad road empty, the triple axle will just chip them a little. :)

The gooseneck I have now, originally had triple tandems......-:t
Talk about a PITA, instead of 8 tires to worry about you had 12....
Got that little problem fixed now though, put on Dexter tandems.:)
I like it but yeah it is a rough ride......:(

still prefer the dual tandem, come to gleason and pull my 30' with backhoe then make your choice, mine has dexter torsion axles and doesnt ride bad at all. also remember all the trailer in the world is only as good as your truck tires, i have had duallys for all my heavy towing, even new tires can blow, i have a s/w truck now but my towing is limited

Thanks for the offer. Nice to see someone else from this area. I don't even have a hitch installed yet but when I do I may give you a shout.
