: lift block on 2500HD---factory?
buelldude 08-30-2005, 03:34 PM Hey,
I was wondering if you guys with 2500HD's have a lift block in you spring pack. I never really looked until the other day, but I have one. Does anyone else have this on any of the HD's or non HD's
dirtyedge 08-30-2005, 03:38 PM you must have bought the truck used then, because this is not a stock option. I do have them in my truck, and I just did it so it would actually sit like a truck, especially when i tow something.
Your torsion bars are probably also cranked up then, to make the truck sit somewhat level.
buelldude 08-30-2005, 03:40 PM I got the truck new, this is what is strange?????
I just went to look and I have 4 main springs(they are all long about the same length) and one thicker one that is about 2/3's the length????? How does yours compare?
dirtyedge 08-30-2005, 03:46 PM How big are the blocks??
Did the truck have 0 miles on it, or did it possible get driven by a sales person first??
buelldude 08-30-2005, 03:50 PM It had about 29 miles on it. I think I'm going to go to the dealer and see if its in the parts diagram???? This may answer the question:help: .The blocks look to be 2"

dirtyedge 08-30-2005, 04:27 PM definately 2" blocks, I still can't believe it came new off of the lot like that. I guess if you like it like that it ended up saving you almost $100 in blocks and u-bolts. If not go back and tear into the sales man.
buelldude 08-30-2005, 04:28 PM same with this pic
buelldude 08-30-2005, 04:31 PM most of the after market blocks I've seen seem to be alum???? Is that close to right?:shake:
wjjeeper 08-30-2005, 04:46 PM I wish mine came with 2" blocks....
buelldude 08-30-2005, 06:04 PM it seems that the factory did have the option for a lift kit????? The parts guy at the dealer took my vin and found out I had that option??? The option is "HVY" and is only avail on the HD model. The only way you can get it is by building it when yor ordering it from the dealer. They said it isn't an option tht you can get at the dealer??? I asked if there was anything else in the option and he said I would have to go thru the rest of the suspension parts to see if they are all the same. That is different!
wjjeeper 08-30-2005, 06:12 PM Looks like you also have drums on the rear axle. Do all '02 Duramax trucks have them?
noreaster 08-30-2005, 07:40 PM HDs never came with drums, your just seeing the caliper & shield
Max Payne 08-30-2005, 08:11 PM Those ARE NOT factory blocks. The sales dept. probably had them installed before the truck was on the lot to make it look like a truck. Factory blocks are painted black, and contoured to fit the axle.
ChevyHDGert 08-31-2005, 09:58 AM Here's my aftermarket 2" block.

Antiricer05 08-31-2005, 12:48 PM Alot of new trucks come from the factory with lift blocks. Ive saw Ford Rangers like that, and a new 1500 Z71 Silverado, and most fullsize Dodge trucks, but usually from the factory the blocks have a piece made into them that stick out between the U bolts to keep the blocks from twisting around and possibly sliding out. At least they are steel, aluminum blocks crush into powder form easily.
