Help. I took the Prodigy Module and wire harness from under dash from my 2003 Sierra and want to install it into my new 2006 2500HD. I need to know if there is more wireing I need to find out about, and how difficult it is to wire it for my trailer brakes. The dealer wants about $200 to do the job. I may need to come back and ask for more info after I get that info.
Thanks,
Matt

Not sure about the 06, but the 05 d-max came with wiring harness separate and it plugs in under dash (has instructions, attached to harness). My 05 wiring harness came with 5 wires, but only 4 will be used with the prodigy. I think it is the brown wire that is not used (wire for illumination of controller). The other 4 will be ground, constant hot wire (sometimes red), brake hot feed to trailer (usually blue) and brake light hot that is activated when brake pedal is depressed (this one actually activates controller and tells it when to send current to trailer brake hot (usually blue). Check your information packets for the stock wiring harness.

They moved 2 wires around inbetween those years I believe. Screw paying $200 for the dealer to do it, you can order a new wiring harness for ~$25 or you can switch around the two wires. You can do a search to find out which 2 wires need switching or ask Max Power.

I am pretty sure the wiring change took place between 2002 and 2003.

You would be correct! Thanks for correcting me. Read in another thread that tentspike got the problem solved.

You can get the correct harness from Tekonsha for your year truck that just plugs into the back of the brake unit and the truck.
