: Plowing With 2007 cc hd classic
Rusty3506 07-03-2011, 11:12 PM OK I have a 2007 cc hd classic lbz, and i just got a boss 8 2 v plow from a friend i know its not set up to plow because of the weight on the front end.. my question is do any of you plow with a cc diesel ? have any issues ? any recommendations? i will be doing mainly commercial lots.

woodchuck2 07-04-2011, 03:41 PM I plow with a ECSB and turned up the T-bars 5 turns, been plowing with it for 6yrs now with no issues. Probably would not hurt to get a leveling kit with new keys so you can keep the stock ride.
tommylawn 07-04-2011, 10:56 PM I have a 2007 GMC cc D/A and we have been plowing commercial with it since 40k miles it now has 130k. We have a 9' Hiniker scoop plow on the front. The only thing we have done is put Timbrens in the front and turn the bars 5 or 6 turns. It handles it just fine
Jager 07-05-2011, 02:56 PM I have an 06 LBZ CC with small Fisher plow. Weight kills the front suspension but you should be expecting that. Only thing I would mention is watch out for over heating if you leave the plow on and drive in warmer weather. The plow kills front end circulation on the coolers and can cause over heating. Other than that I would expect the usual for a vehicle used for plowing.
Rusty3506 07-06-2011, 10:13 AM Thanks guys, just was reading about all these broken and cracked frames and made me start thinking maybe not to run the plow on that truck. I'm thinking it might have a bit to do with the operator as well.?

That would be a good bet. I run a 7.6' Boss with wings and no issues yet.
wolfmobile8 07-06-2011, 06:34 PM I have an 8ft fisher ss xblade on my 2002 duramax ext cab sb. I would get torsion keys and gussests for the front.
Rusty3506 07-06-2011, 06:49 PM year i was going to order keys and new shocks , ive been hearing alittle about the gussets any place to get them? and maybe have them welded in?

Not sure where to get the gussests from. When I got my truck the gussests were already on it from the previous owner and mine are welded on. If you are going to get new shocks I heard that the billstiens 5100's are a good shock. here is a forum that I am joined to www.plowsite.com (http://www.plowsite.com) Great place for any of your snow plow needs.
knaffie 07-07-2011, 08:07 AM One of the local contractors has the same truck, same plow. His door gap is zero near the mirror, about 3/4" at the bottom of the door. I saw it myself a few weeks ago.
Plow slowly and carefully. A good hit to something like a curb WILL bend the frame and result in the same condition. Several people have had it happen around here.
VTDMAX 07-07-2011, 08:43 AM Most diesels around here have a plow. I have a 2008 crew cab with a 8' 6" Fisher V plow. Before that I had an 2003 extended cab and a 2005 crew cab, all diesels with Fisher V plows. I've never had any plowing related problems, other than tie rod ends don't seem to last more than a couple of years.
I turn up the torsion bars and use the Timbrens in the front. You'll want some weight in the back as ballast. I've never had overheating problems, but I take the winter cover off unless it's below 0. Plowing in warmer temps with the cover on will definitly cause overheating.

To add to my comment, the door gap is like it is because he hit a chunk of frozen sod plowing somebody's yard. He said the impact wasn't significant, and he's hit things harder with his other truck and never had a problem.
I definitely recommend Timbrens. They made a huge difference for me with a Boss 9'2" V plow.
jkski 08-05-2011, 01:55 PM I've been running an 8' Meyer plow on mine for 3 seasons and just changed over to an 8.5' Meyer Super V2. The only change I made was cranking-up the torsion bars as others have suggested and with the new V2 I will be adding Timbrens. Other than that, just take it easy and put a good bit of weight in the back, towards the gate to help offset the front weight. Also, these trucks are not the smallest, so keep that in mind when you start looking at some of the driveways that people will inevitably ask you to do......it may not be worth it!

Why do people think swapping out torsion keys doesn't change the stock ride. Your accomplishing the same thing, applying more twist to the torsion bar, increasing the spring rate and picking the front end up. Just turn the keys up a few turns and call it good.

I would find it VERY hard to believe he bent the frame on the truck and didnt destroy the plow. Ive fixed several plows that were torn right off, some which the A frame gave, some which tore the mounts out of the nose of the truck frame.
My father is currently( i use the term losely) plowing with a fisher V-plow on his 2010 HALF TON and his only complaint is missing his 6.0
He had an 02 2500hd ecsb 6.0 that he bought new with a boss 7.6' V, between the two of use we bent the wings several times and ended up having to upgrade the plow, no harm to the truck.
Im not saying you cant hurt these truck, im jut saying i wouldn't be scared of hanging a plow on one of these trucks and working it a little.
Big Chris 08-17-2011, 07:39 PM I have a Boss 8' superduty straight blade on my 05 eclb and I just put timbrens on it. Handles the plow fine. Didn't turn the bars up because I can't stand the leveled or front high look when the plow is off the truck. If you put any weight in the bed the truck looks like it is squatting bad.
