not for nothing but theres only 5 or 6 prostock style diesels in the northeast...you should have more of a superstreet style class...so guys with twins can pull

Shootout's class is modeled after the FPP 3.0 class which is used in nearly every northeast or mid-atlantic state. MATPA's 3.0 class is this way as well, so that more trucks qualified for the class and there are the same rules across the board. There are more 3.0 trucks in the northeast that I have learned about since we started the class even, however, like in the case of Northampton a couple weeks ago, stuff breaks and schedules don't align. between Shootout and MATPA there is thousands of $$ in purse money on the line for this class. Jeff is really trying to build this class, as am I and the rest of MATPA.

well u only had one truck show up yesterday because u had a pull on the same day as the biggest pull in the northeast, NADM's east coast nationals in numidia pa,
but from what ive heard from other 3 of the 5 that showed up on the rain day that u guys r doing the right thing tring to get this class going, but do u think the $80 entry fee is alittle steep for some, r u just not putting enought word out there, plus give it some time things dont happen over night!

Tom had a good hook in brookfield  once some nice guy stopped and got him some fuel. Poor guy, i think he thought he had this issue licked when he brought cassners into the equation.

Well on average it's about 20 to 25 for the hook fee the bigger "brush" or "fair" pulls can go up to 500 for first and pay back about 5 places the smaller pulls are usually around 200 to 250 for first place, but big orgs like nadm and full pull go up to 700 800 dollars for first and pay as far back as 6 to 8 places I got payed 100 for fifth place last weekend with nadm!
Classes include work stock, 2.6, 2.8 (for place that don't want to catch up with the times), 3.0 has become a big and mor national class, super street, and open mod

Whats wrong with 1500$ purse and back 10?

When you only have a limited number of trucks it doesn't make sense to pay back to 10th. I have never been to a pull that pays past 3rd. I definatly agree the $80 hook fee is VERY steep!

PA, and western NY seem to be a different animal Jeff. you have the guys out there that are more willing to drive to lower PA, MD, VA and Ohio to hook in the bigger organizations because there are more hooks, and they are already members (or are friends with members). For CT, VT, NH, RI, and ME, it is us, SNETPA, and there are two separate clubs in Maine, but they have been warring for years and aren't organized. The rest of the pulls that occur in the entire northeast that I know of are just local brush style pulls with no organized sanctioning body or the fair puts together a crew. and out of those pulls, diesels were never really accepted into the "in" crowd, they were looked at the same way a stock gas truck is looked at in most places.

Jeff, you probably feel I was blowing smoke up your ass, but all I can say is shit happens, trucks break, and when a diesel breaks it's not like we break an iron 350 or 454 and can get another together for cheap in a day. its takes weeks, months, and years in some cases to afford to build another motor. We couldn't make it out this weekend because my buddy had to fly out to work in Ohio last minute. We were trying like hell too. I assure you.

Yah i knew tom was pulling with you and mike in PA he's been trying to get bugs out of that truck for 2 years when your pushing it that far your always finding the next week link! fun to watch it when it runs but like i said he doesnt usually pull around home there isnt alot of $ in it or rules and events even unless its at the local fairs!

There are a ton of fair and brush pulls (something like 12) in an approximate 100 mile radius of Utica, most of which are between syracuse an albany, and most of which we consistently see the same faces for all the street mod trucks, diesel trucks and stock class trucks.

One issue at the "series" of pulls that alot of me and my buddies run into is there are 12 pulls and 17 F ing sets of rules. I believe a couple of guys where trying to put an organization together in CNY and it never got off the ground.

I for one would LOVE to run a legitimate work stock class where i dont have to worry about getting DQed for beating up on a bunch of local yocals who pull with there torsion bars cranked to the top and there clevis on a 6 inch drop hitch in the dropped position. So im forced to do what everyone else around here does and spray my way into the RWYB classes.

I really truly did want to make the SPI pull in altamont, but with a camping trip planned with some friends of my wife's i didnt really have an option.

i wish I didnt pretzal my driveshaft up there Saturday in the stock class. I would have ran the 3.0 class also. I look forward to pulling with you guys in the future.

it took me about 2 hours to get up to altamont and over 4 hours to get back. I probably averaged 85 mph on the way up and about 40mph running off the front wheels all back roads on the way back.

thanks man. I wish there were more trucks to run against though. hopefully next time there will be more competition.

I can't believe I waited this long to build the tranny and get the truck EFILive tuned. what was I thinking. it's a whole different animal this year.

I plan to be there. I think you will find some competition up here too, as long as they don't wuss out. Goshen was our first points pull, and we haven't had another since. the next one is the 30th at McCray's farm in South Hadley, and the next one after that is in Westfield, Ma...I believe it's Aug 13th. August is a busy month for all of us, almost every day for every weekend we pull till the middle of Sept, not necessarily in our own club, because we go to Marshfield, MA too.

juddski do I need to be a member of the MATPA to pull at your pulls?

in order to pull for payout and points yes you do, but just to pull for fun, no. Also, I was wrong before, the westfield pull is the 19th.

there might be some decent info up on the website now Jessie: www.matpa.org
