just thought i'd give everybody a heads up on canadian tire. i purchased an alternator from them. it lasted 24 hours if that. when i went back to them they did not have an alternator left to fit my truck. what they did do is call napa and had one delivered within 25 minutes. what i don't get is the original alt from them was 307.00 and rebuilt to boot. the new alt was 70 bucks cheaper and brand new. they refunded me 70 bucks plus the tax. when i asked the sales man why did you not sell me the cheaper alt to start with i got a dumb founded look. what this tells me is they are gouging me. again another dumb founded look. in future i will get parts prices from the competition and go with the best deal. be it canadian tire or elsewhere. i also sent copies of all the bills from replacing my alt on 3 occasions within 2 weeks to their head office asking for an explanation as to why their prices are out of line with the competition. ie. napa, lordco and others. if i get a reply i will post it. I know where your coming from Ed. I was looking at getting a K&N air filter for my truck (haven't actually gotten one) so out of curiousity, I ask at canadian tire. I think they wanted something like $120 or close to that. I went over to NAPA where the fellow there quoted me $86. What gives? I'm all for supporting canadian businesses but damn, sometimes I wonder.

Same battles exsist here between two of the more popular discount auto parts stores. Price a brake caliper at one store, it's half that price at the second. Vise versa on the brake pads. Go figure. Get ya somewhere.
