i'm looking at a 2011 vw golf for my wife (TDI version). and i'm trying to figure out if there are any good upgades for the thing? i've been searching but it hard to sort through it all. most turbo upgrades are for the gasser.

Yeah I found a canadian site that has some kinda good info. But let me tell ya. Don't mention dpf delete. They loose their minds.

The new diesel is a common rail 2.0l. In Europe it has 170hp here is 140. But there are a few tunes to get 169ish I guess. Thing is no injectors. Vw guys are new to common rail. I would think you could just home the tips like dmax guys do. But like I said it's new stuff so people are scared. Lol

I have a 2011 TDI Sportwagen with the DSG. The tuning world for the 2.0 CR TDI's (if that's what you mean by upgrade) isn't 1/100th of what it is for diesel trucks and the gains aren't as proportionately high as you're used to seeing in the truck world. Malone tuning has a good reputation with the 09+ CR engines. No handheld tuners exist to the best of my knowledge.

There's a guy on vwvortex.com that custom makes DPF delete pipes, they're about $1300 IIRC and no one has figured out how to disable the regen stuff in the ECM yet.

Mine is stock and does pretty well for what it is. Low end tq is good, not too much on the top end for high speed passing. It gets good mileage (mid-high 30's) and will cruise at triple digit speeds all day if you want, but won't win any races.
