my truck has had a superchip for over 110000 miles and it just not doing it for me anymore! lol so at the end of next month im rebuilding my trany, airdog, gauges, fuel rail work, and a tune that should give me 500+ hp. is there anything else i need to do, or anything i need to know not to do?

I'd do head studs at the very least. If your shooting for that kind of power, then exhaust manifolds/up pipes, and a down pipe would help. EGR delete would be helpful as well. That's a lot of power for a stock motor, what's you plans for the truck? Any racing your gonna do with it

I'm not sure off hand, one of the site vendors here could help with that. If you get the right tuning, and don't plan on racing, you might be able to get by without studs. The headgaskets seem not to like getting over 35-40 PSI of boost, though some have reported running more then that without issues. I'd still look into an EGR delete to improve air flow into the engine.

You really dont need anything other than what you listed and whats in your sig to hit 500.

thanks yall! the head studs kinda hurd my feelings... i dont have the money for that right now! but i do plan on head studs and a few other integrity mods to keep my truck going! what about the turbo? i read that hard runs and then suddenly letting off is bad for it! true? and how much will an EGR blocker help? thanks for all the help!

Definitely block the EGR.
What you describe is "turbo bark". Yeah, you dont want to do that....so dont run it hard and then let off suddenly. LOL

A mods list for a 500hp Duramax is short and sweet...trans, lift pump, exhaust, and a good EFI live tune. The tune is absolutely key. With a stock turbo you shouldn't need head studs or any rail work. I would recommend tie rod sleeves and EGR block.
