Bought used in dec 2010. Jan 2011 called dealer about brake pedal felling wrong. Worked somewhat normal for the last few months. Had gotten worst latly so I took it to a tire shop. They told me there's oil in the fluid and the whole system should be replaced. They said my best bet was to get it fixed by a dealership. Car had 76k when purchased. Dealer has done 1 oil change and that's it for maintanence. Since car was purchased as is am I going to foot the bill or can I ask them to fix it since they sold it with the condition. Going in Monday to try and get it fixed but I'm not big on fixing a problem they should have caught prior to sale. I've bought 5 vehicals from this company and will go elsewhere if I'm paying for this. Do I have a legitimate bitch or am I going to get laughed at when I tell them I want it fixed on their dime?

If the brakes still work, perhaps a fluid flush should be performed. Who is to say for sure that oil is present in the brake fluid? Was a sample mailed out to a lab?
I'm not disputing that "something" weird maybe visible in the brake reservoir, BUT, a flush isn't that much money. Most contaminated systems simply stop working.
My local dealer charges me an hour's labor for a flush and bleed...
about brake pedal feeling wrong
You give us no description and yet you ask our opinion????
I don't buy the oil in the brake fluid story. The brakes on these vehicles are nearly identical, albeit smaller, than on the HD trucks. Corrosion of the mounting bracket "ears", failure of the slide bolts to slide, and/ or corrosion under the wheel speed sensors are all KNOWN inspection points for this style of braking system.
Why don't you "not mention" contamination, and see what your dealer has to say? Hell, for all we know, the brake pads are worn out?

Pedal hits the floor once in a while. I can pump it to build pressure. Shop couldn't find a leak. Took it to get flushed when they told me about the oil. I'm going to ask the dealer to flush it out and see what happens. I'm not 100% confident in the tire shop. I would have written what they said off completely but they didn't want to give me a price so I figured they weren't trying to rob me. Might have been trying to get off work on saterday though. This issue and my truck issue all in 1 day. When it rains, it pours.
