I noticed that many times my glow plug light will come on when I go to start the truck even if the engine is already warm. Other times it won't. Is this normal??
Sometimes I won't wait for it to go out, I'll just start the truck because I know it's already warm. When I do this, the light goes out as soon as the truck starts. Is this o.k.? or should I wait for the light to go out even if the truck is already warm before starting?

GLOW PLUGS ARE PCM CONTROLLED AND USE SENSORS TO JUDGE WHEN TO TURN ON AND OFF.ON A COLD MOTOR IT MAY TAKE LONGR TO START IF YOU JUMP IN AND GO. IT WILL NOT HURT ANY THING.GLOW PLUGS ARE USED TO WARM THE CYLINDER. AND ON TNE D/MAX THE INTAKE AIR HEATER IS ALSO USED AS WITH THE GLOW PLUGS. THE CLUSTER LAMP IS TO JUST TELL YOU IS ON.

My glow plug came on last week everytime I started my truck. The dash light goes off as soon as the truck starts but if you look at the voltage meter you can see that they continue to draw juice for a little while after you start. Normaly my truck only does this in the morning or after it has set for a 4+ hours in at 40 deg or so. The other day when mine kept comming on even thought the engine was hot the only diference I could detect was that the engine reved up at startup above what was normal and was much louder until the glow plugs shut down.

Mine may or may not come on during the day. It depends on outside temp and how long the engine was shut off.
