I just ordered a 06 Silverado 2500HD with a DMax. I intend to install a set of auxilary gauges on the A pillar. I definitely want the EGT and Boost gauges but I'm not sure about including an AT temperature gauge, because one is already provided.

I would like to hear comments about both the two and three gauge configurations. As well, I'd like to hear from those who installed the AT gauge whether it was worthwhile or not.

Hamops,

On a Duramax the trans gauge is real and does a good job, you can just use it. We stock all the Auto Meter, Isspro and DiPriocl gauges and mounts call us if you have any questions etc.

IMO the three gauge a-pillar is too much. I just installed a dual gauge a-pillar and I think it looks good.

As stated the factory AT gauge seems to work fine for me.

I also just installed the dual guage pillar and it looks good. I also have a dual guage a-pillar pod for ya if ya need it brand new in the box collecting dust. PM me if you're interested.

I have the dual gauge pillar with Boost and EGT's right now but I plan on upgrading to a 3 gauge pillar so that I can add fuel pressure at a later date. Just think it would be nice to monitor that just to see how the truck is performing.

Thanks for all your replies. It's evident that two gauges is all I'll need to add. I'm glad to hear that AT gauge on the truck works ok. As a newbie to diesel, I'll be asking more of these questions.

What about rear end temp? would that be a good third guage?

I've got a 2-gauge right now with boost and EGT that works great. Thinking about doing a 3-gauge pod and installing an air pressure gauge if these airbags I've got work out ok.

As mentioned earlier, I too had the dual gauge pod with boost and egt, but I added an air gauge for my bags. There are a couple of other choices for a third gauge as mentioned.
It sounds like you have future plans of upgrading your truck and it would benifit you and be cheaper to get the extra up front, but think ahead if you really will need it.

I don't have any intention of adding power increasing apparatus like the "Edge" etc. though I do intend to install an auxilary fuel tank but that is down the road. The suggestion that I plan ahead for later additions is a good one. I've seen appropriate fuel gauges that would fit my needs so I guess I can tolerate looking at a guage that constantly reads "E".
