I asked the my RV dealer what it would take to remove my prodigy system from one truck to another and he told me to take out the command module from under the dash and he would rewire the new truck for around $200. He also said the wireing was labores,is this true or can a somewhat handy person tackel it. It's bad enough that I have to get my 2 yr. old truck cap repainted to the new truck color

Its pretty easy to do especially if you have the trailer tow package. What year is your new and old truck?
Basically for the brake control you need to unplug it from the old and plug it in the new. You might have to swap 2 wires around depending on the years.
As far as the rear plug, if the truck has the trailer tow package all the wiring is there. All you have to do is find it, unbundle it and run it up to a plug. The plug wiring is pretty simple, just ask here.
I can do the whole job in 1/2 hour if it has the trailer tow/wiring package.

I am pulling the prodigy from a 2003 Sierra 1500 with tow pkg. and installing it into a 2006 sierra 2500 with the tow pkg.

It should plug and play then.
On the outside of the drivers side frame rail there will be a bundle of wiring just between the cab and the box. Drill a hole in the side of the box, fish the wire through the hole and put an end on it. The only thing left to do is screw the end into the hole.
Wiring is as follows
7 wire RV plug - truck wiring
Black - Red
White - (white or black)
Red - yellow
Brown - green
Green - brown
Blue - blue

On mine all I did was get the GM harness that goes witht he right year, take off the cover under the dash, plug it in and run the wie over to the Prodigy. It took 2 minutes.
I got my harness from Camping World, $11.00. There was no cutting and only 2 screws to hold the hanger.

Max power is talking about the 5th wheel/camper wiring & plug that goes
in the bed of the truck. Since the original poster said he had to repaint
his bed cap, I'm sure he is not towing a 5th wheel or a camper.
It is plug and play from 2003 & up. 2001 and 2002 had a different wiring pattern.
Under the steering wheel is a tow package wiring plug that you plug
one end of the 2' prodigy cable in, the other end into the prodigy.
A couple of zip ties and you're done. $200 for this "install" would be theft.

I do have the tow pkg. on my new 06 duramx and I did unplug the wireing under the dash from the Prod. to the plug and play type of harness from my 03 truck. I told the wife this should be all I have to do and you guys just confirmed it!!!!! What a money saver this post was. And I do tow a TT not a 5 wheeler.
