Are there any major differences in available options between the 2500 and 3500 trucks?

I am looking at a GMC SLT Crew Cab so I don't need info on WT, SLE, or Denali

Are the side curtain airbags available on the 3500s?

Wheel sizes?

I messed around a little on the GMC site - but figured I might be able to find out this info faster from you guys :)

thats all that i know is the difference. same with the other 2 brands also. not like back in the 70s/80s when the 3/4 ton had either a 10bolt/44front and the 1 ton had a dana 60 front.

This is what a 3500HD loaded with sand bags looks like grossing at WELL over 15,000 lbs....
Glad I had the extra leafs...

You could have carried the same load with a HD2500 with air bags and had a better riding truck 99% of the time....

mine rides fine for a 3500. no complaints at all... bags may be coming if i fined a trailer.....

I think alot of people rely on air bags to carry a load that their truck is not rated for... have a failure and you are in trouble in a hurry... bags for leveling for me...not lifting...

Cant order 20" wheels on 3500, and the registration on a 3500 in mn is 125$ vs appr. 450$ the first year on a 2500.

on 3500 crew cab short beds dealer told me the 3500s have 5 ft shorter turning radius, also 17000 tow capacity rather the 2500s have 17200

Do the 3500s not have a 11.5" rear end and the 2500s have a 10.5"?

All diesels have the 11.5" AAM axle. Not sure about the gassers.

basically just a different rear spring pack...otherwise a 3500 SRW is the same as a 2500.

Yes, you can get side-impact airbags on a 3500 SRW. Side impact airbags are not available on the duallys though IIRC.

All 3500s get the 11.5 rear, gas or diesel. Also, beside a big main leaf pack, the rear springs on the new 3500 srw get the auxiliary overload spring back that they lost in 06.

My '11 3500srw 6.0 gasser has the 11.5" rear. You can see the axle, in pics, in my "rear brakes exposed" thread. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=402417&highlight=

Yes. Since 04 any engine 3500 srw comes with the 11.5 rear. Basically from 01 till now the only way to get the 10.5 rear would be a 2500 with the 6.0. I can't believe you of all people don't know this.;)
