So.. completely stock.. 5,100 miles on her (less then 2 months old) and my CEL light came on today. I'm thinking.. bad diesel or bad injector. I was filling up with diesel at a mobil station today.. Ended up spilling a bunch on my paint cause I overfilled it Censored . Put the gas cap on and pulled up to the gas pumps where they have the windshield washer containers etc. Used one of those a few times to clean off all the diesel and got in the truck and the CEL light was on. I filled it up with the truck off.. but kept it running while I was cleaning the diesel off.

Now the symptoms.. Starts fine, idles fine and drives fine HOWEVER, when trying to accelerate.. it's like the truck has no turbo (meaning no power). Going up hills around 45-50, and if I floor it.. it won't downshift to get my boost going.. just slowly climbs in speed. Even tried rolling around 50 on the highway and stomped on it and still slowly climbed 51, 52, 53, 54 etc..

I don't have a code reader so I don't know what's up.. I'm going to call a few dealerships in the AM to see if they can squeeze me in since I really don't want to drive like this. I might just have to borrow my brother in laws Sierra Dinale :ro)

Any ideas?? Wierd about 90 seconds or so after starting the truck from fueling the CEL comes on... no DIC messages..

Just in case you live or play in an are that is extremely dusty.... You may want to open the hood and see if the air filter is stopped up.

I don't.. it's all highway driving.. never seen dirt roads yet and was in the country today filling up (single lane highays etc).

To all.. I have not used any fuel additives yet (waiting for the colder weather) and had my first service at the dealer (oil change, lube etc) about 3 weeks ago (3,500 miles).

Not sure if I'll get an answer in time.. Dealership is fitting me in this morning.. Wasn't sure if I should be telling them that it happened after I filled up (incase it was bad diesel that caused it). Would they end up charging me for the repair?? Should I just keep my mouth shut and say it came on while driving?

I don't believe i'd volunteer the information to them. But If they ask specificly I would tell them. But if it is the bad fuel- and the dealership can prove that- then the gas station would be at fault. As long as you can prove thats where you got the fuel. Good luck

Same thing happened to me (no spill) right after a fill up the light comes on. turns out to be a bad boost sensor ,dealer fixed it and put the latest flash on and all is well now.

Well.. dropped the truck off this morning 9:30am and told them I'd be "waiting" for it when I made the call this morning. At 12:30 I walked to the service advisor to find out what the story was.. They had been looking at it for about 30 minutes at that point and couldn't figure out what was wrong. They told me they will put me in a rental if they can't fix it in the next 30 minutes. 1:00 came along and here comes my rental... from what they say, they "think" it's the EGR valve and have one arriving around 3:30 or so this afternoon. I've only been there a few times.. but they have all been stand up guys and have provided excellent service thus far.

We shall see if that fixes it or not.

Blow a hose off of the intercooler or turbo? They get greased up pretty good from the inside (PCV) and slip off.

Just got the call.. it was the EGR valve.. replaced and reflashed with fuel filter. On my way to get her now.

Why did the EGR valve cause these symptoms? Mine is blocked, so in a sense it's not working. However I have a fingerstick installed so I don't get the CEL. I guess my question is what id the ECM doing to compensate for an EGR code?

No clue.. but from what the report shows.. the receipt the codes.. drove it.. CEL came on again.. replaced the EGR valve.. reset and test drove.. hasn't happened again.. Truck has all power back again.. DTC was showing codes P0401 and P0404.. which relate to the EGR valve.
