Keep an eye here:

http://personal.linkline.com/rlockyer/2500Gas.xls

Note that I just installed 285's Friday and filled her up today (a lot of idling on this tank), so I added a column for corrected mpg (multiply mpg by 7.8%). The correct formula will kick in on the next tank.

Here is my original that I created for my '03 Tundra:

I know it's early to start evaluating the numbers, but I was expecting a bigger difference - doesn't look like much of an improvement over the LLY MPG's

the early 06s are LLYs. 06.5 will be LBZ.

LLY's with a 6-speed Allison.
I'm running about 1800rpm at 70.

15.8 hand calculated for the first tank, mostly 5-6 mile runs on the highway, and some in-town. Anyone else notice their '06 runs considerably better than the '05's? Same engine, totally different beast IMO. BTW-less than 400 miles on pickup.

I have 3000 miles and at 56 I get 20 and as the speed goes so does mpg. Sunday with 5 in truck and 4 wheeler in back at 70-80 got 18.3 to 19 mpg. Went 430 miles on 23.55 and that tank went 20 miles and took 1 hr and 15 mins. in stop and go so I am happy camper. Last Wed went to race track and ran 16.006 best in 4 runs and that tank I got 17.3 or so.

On a recent 2353 mile trip averaged 20.2 mpg keeping the speed between 60 - 70. That's around 400 miles for half tank of fuel.

My dic is showing 1 mpg less than the gal/miles

That is dic 17.3 and 23.5 divided into 430 miles.

18.25 mpg the gods truth now that is cruze control driving

326 miles, 17.4 hours and 12.3mpg. This is local and in town driving plus a few quick 0 to 50 times. About 1/2 the miles are in 50mph speed zones the rest at 30mph or less. The longest run between stop signs is 2 miles. I haven't towed anything yet and won't until January then I will see how it does with a gross weight of 34,000lbs. My 1998 K3500 with a 454 got about 8mpg driving the same route and about 6mpg grossing 34,000lbs.

Hey guys! I'm new to this site. Just bought an '06 lly. I just arrived in N.C. from M.D. on a trip and was getting between 28 and 30 mpg!!! Granted I was following my dad down (and he refuses to go over 55 mph). Truck has 2,000 miles on it.

With 7500 miles on it now towing a 33' 2 slide TT I get between 8.7mpg and 9.8mpg freeway at 70-75mph. Around 17-18mpg empty.

I'm doing what Rich is doing...click the link in my sig. and you can watch me as I bring on the miles. I try to update it at least once a week.

Or here is the link if you are too lazy http://members.cox.net/rustyyoung/mileage/06DuramaxMileage.htm

On a steady cruise over level terrain at 55 drafting another vehicle, I would not be surprised to see numbers in the mid 20s, either from the DIC or hand calculated (FWIW, my DIC has always estimated low, even before I changed tire size).

Remember, with the 6 speed, at 70 we're only turning 1800. At 55, we're probably down around 1400 and JUST barely into 6th gear. Ya, I can granny mine into 6th at 45, but she pops out as soon as I relax and give it ANY throttle over a tickle.

Stop and go traffic and poorly timed signals absolutely kill my mileage.
