I was wondering if some of you guys over here could help me with my project...6.5 turbo on a 6.2.

I got the turbo, manifold, oil return tube, fuel pump plate (connects to the return tube), upper and lower intakes, and an electric lift pump (AC Delco). I also had an oil pressure line fabbed to run to the turbo from the back of the block. This is going into a Jeep pickup.

So my question is this....what else do I need for this project? What about the stock injectors that are on this motor? Which injection pump should I run? Actually, any input would be appreciated as my knowledge of diesels and turbos is somewhat limited!!:help:

You might think about using short body injectors to clear the sidemounted manifold.

Short body 6.5 turbo injectors with the orange rings on them.

Mechanical pump would be by far the easiest way to go, I reccommend a 4911 pump, a 4970 would work and a 5088 or 5436 could easily be bumped up enough to work with the turbo. Using a DS pump would be a BIG undertaking. New timing cover, gear set with tone wheel, high pressure lines, an ECM that matches your tranny and a complete wiring harness....just go mechanical ;)

What transmission are you running anyway?

I'm running an NV4500 with a NP 208 t-case...I would rather stick to a mechanical pump anyway just due to the fact that I'm trying to do this swap as easily as I can. Where is a good place to get the injectors?

As for an exhaust, what should I run? A single 3"? Dual 3"?

Thanks for the help...

Single 3" off the downpipe from the turbo is simplest. You could step up to 3½" or 4" if you really wanted to, but that would be overkill on such a short wheel base.

What year model is the 6.2 your using? As long as its not an '82 with the coarse thread injectors then swapping them is no big deal. My advice, unless you can come up with some cores at a wrecking yard to trade for rebuilds from a fuel shop(they more than likely won't take your long body injectors as cores) is to buy new ones. Napa, Advance, Auto Zone etc usually stock them but they can all get them brand new from Bosch or Delphi.

There have been some people who have gotten away with running their 6.2 pump cranked to support a turbo add-on, its even in the instructions from the old Banks bolt on turbo kit. Thats the cheap way to do it for sure, the 'best' way is to get a 4911(HD)/4970(SD) pump.

If I switch from long body to short body injectors, will that pose a problem with the fuel lines (due to length)? Maybe somebody can tell me a little more about the injection pump that I have...

4153...well it has the old style everything, housing, driveshaft, advance piston, face cam, solenoids, metering valve, delivery valve spring, governor, etc. and it has an 829 head and the old 23119 cam ring. I'd say this would not be a good candidate at all for your application, in fact, even if you did bottom out the leaf spring to max your fuel delivery, you would still come up considerably short and it would never run well.

Any ideas as to where I could pick up a 4911 or 4970 IP? I've looked on E-Bay for at least a core and come up with nothing!!! Does anyone have at least a core they are willing to part with?
