I just bought a wrecked 05 duramax, it has a full exhaust, cold air kit. it has a select switch 1-5 on the dash beside the steering column. Im assuming this is a tuner, but I cant find it anywhere. Im jsut trying to figure out if the tuner was removed and they just left the switch or if its still in there somewhere. where would it be located? I havent got the truck driveable yet where I can try it out.

It may be tuned with EFILive with DSP5 tune. The wires from the switch go directly to the ECM plug. Follow the two wires and see if that is where it goes. If that is the case then most likely it is still flashed with a DSP5 tune. The way EFILive Flashscan works is it licenses to the ECM, PCM, or TCM. It does not lock it unless it is programmed to be locked. But one cannot remove the licenses off thier Flashscan and reuse on another vehicle. One has to purchase another license to tune another vehicle. But if not locked anyone can read the tune out except for DSP2 and DSP5 tunes. They are not fully readable back out of the ECM just single tunes are. Now anyone can flash over the tune if they desire.

Posting the pic of the back side of the switch will most likely help to tell if it is a DSP5 switch. If there is more than 2 wires coming off it then it be something else.

ok, the switch has 2 wires, black and purple. the go through the firewall to the computer. Its just beside the battery on the drivers side in a box, it looks like a computer anyways.
