I've been looking at some used Edge Juice w/ Attitude units for my 2005 CCSB LLY to give it a bit more towing power and to have an EGR gage. It's basically a stock truck except for the LBZ intake and MP. I had a few questions about this unit:
- I've read about the issues with some, are there age ranges to avoid?
- Is it possible to download and re-program an LMM unit to run my LLY?
- Do these have the option to turn off the EGR?
- The website talks about fuel ammount and timing, will it increase boost as well?
- How safe are these in Level 1 for towing heaving (15k #) in OD?
Thanks!

Can't help here but if LLY it should be fine.

They are not interchangable. The Edge system you mention are a module system and plug into the wire harness plugs. LLY and LMM are way different in wiring. Pretty much each generation is different.
- Do these have the option to turn off the EGR?
Being the module system they do not offer EGR delete. The only choices here are the tuners that alter ECM tuning and those that other the Race type version which means off-road use only. Edge Evo Race, CTS, and CS version offer EGR delete. You may have to go on-line and get the latest update for them depending on how long the one a person gets has set on the shelf.

Do not know the specifics but here the Edge you are asking about fakes the signals between modules and sensors to make this changes you mention.

It should be pretty safe. But here again watch your EGTs and if they get to high drop a gear or switch to stock level. But even in stock level the Edge module does still do some timing changes.

The Edge Juice probably does a very good job but I can't say enough about the setup I got from Duramaxtuner. It's and EFI Live pre-programmed ECU teamed up with a CTS w/ EGT probe. Just a sweet combo and you can choose from any of 5 tunes from just above stock to 100 HP over (sounds like you'd be liking tune #2 quite a bit ;) ). Since you have any LLY you can even change the tunes right in the CTS via an onboard serial connection. It's the slickest/simplest setup I've seen yet to get you into EFI Live (which is preferred over just about any other programmer due to the level of customization you can achieve with it.....not cheap, but the results are nothing short of awesome).

If you're going to do EFI Live, make sure where you go has a in house dyno... This way you can put eyes on the real HP level and not a driveway guestimate.

If running stock duramax I see no need to dyno. Most tuners I believe have done enough now to have a pretty decent pre built tunes for stock setups.

Not everyone is going to be near a dyno shop or going to be involved with EFI Live programming.
IMHO word of mouth and the experiences of others will suffice for most looking to get the most from a relatively stock truck.

To each their own. Just something to think about.

If you are towing 15k a programmer wont do you much good when you engine fan roars and your engine temps spike. I would look into fixing your trucks cooling system before you go adding B.T.U.s to the system while pulling 15,000 pounds.
Don't get me wrong, it is pussible to pull this with your truck the way is is stock but you have to baby it and get out of the throttle when she warms up. Given your desire to to heavy with od on makes methink you don't want to have to slow down to cool your truck off though.
Just my 2 cents

I've had it on now for a while and i like it. I have the CS model with the small screen that fits in my overhead compartment which is super nice. The #1 setting which I use the most is for fuel economy, the tow setting is #2 on mine. My EGT temps have been mild towing so far but my boat is under 5k lbs. I can't run the bigger tune on level 5 without the lift pump I get codes for low fuel rail pressure. Plus my stock tranny hates it on 4th and 5th gear when I'm running hard. Really it makes too much power for my stock trans to handle. My favorite thing with this tuner is the trans shift relearn and the better fuel miledge. It shifts so much better now and getting 2-3 mpg better with normal driving. Only complaint I've had is the monitor shuts off at times while driving. Called edge and it's common they said. There working on a fix for it? I just turn it back on and never had any other issues. You should get the cat removed too with the edge, makes a huge differance. Mike
