I'm in Norco, CA. Anyone in the area with fresh 06? I'll burn some steaks, chill some beer, take some pictures.

I'm in Chino... just picked up an '06 last weekend.
Having some work done Sunday mid-day, planning a detail tomorrow.
Maybe Sunday afternoon?

No steaks needed... couple of beers would be fun though.

Maybe swap out the airboxes to see if the 06' box will work on the LLY?

Rats. I'll have to pospone this awhile. I'm booked up this weekend.

We should have another "diesel party" pretty soon. Just have to work out the calendar.

Oh bummer... and here I am in 100 degree heat right in the middle of a full claybar/Klasse Twins detail getting it lookin' purty for ya' :D

Nahh... would have done it anyways. First weekend with a new baby she always gets a good rub-down. I completely debadged her, painted the bowtie to match the body. Good thing I bought the truck in Rustol... er... Summit White :D
Got the windows done in 15% and installed a bedrug yesterday.

Oh ya... and I got a set of 285's on the way home after cranking the bars 9 turns before leaving work.

Ya know... I love this truck, but it ain't the same as my Tundra. Both trucks were "Wednesday" trucks... this one has stickers all over it indicating 7/20/05, the Tundra was 10/16/02.
So far, I have found the following:
1 - Missing fastener on the top stack cover.
2 - Missing top fastener on the heat-sink module attached to the back of the radiator shroud.
3 - Rear diff vent line was hanging down under the axle. There was a clip on it that was intended to attach it to another similar-sized line. I just looped it to take up the slack and attached it to itself. When I recover from my heatstroke  I'll crawl back under there and see if I can tell where it was supposed to be attached.
4 - Bottom edge of the main dash panel is not tight. I'm having a nav system installed tomorrow, so I'll see if we can fix it then... if not, I'll probably have to live with it or eat the $5 clip because the dealer will probably claim that the Circuit City tech lost it.
5 - There is a very small amount of oil on the bottom of the tranny's tailhousing at the shaft exit.

In 32 months and 125k, my Tundra never left a spot of any kind of fluid on the ground that I didn't let out intentionally and you could have eaten off of the bottom of that chassis. Same went for my '94 HiLux that I traded on the Tundra at 225k in late 2002.
I've got about 1k on the 2500 and it's obvious that it will eventually drip, or at least end up with some fluid spray on the underside behind the tranny.

None of this stuff is major, but it's a confidence shaker. If this kind of stuff gets overlooked, what else that I can't see is overlooked? That's what worries me. I run nearly 50k per year, so reliability is of utmost importance. I know that I bought the best vehicle available in the configuration that I need... there's no way I would have touched a Furd or Cry-sler.

Anyway... here she is:

Guess I need to wrap a diaper around it like my buddy did on his boat's Hino :)

Good thing this got postponed....

Took the truck to Circuit City today to have the nav system installed. They said it would be 2 or 3 hours... dropped it off at 10 and the guy had the dash off and stock HU out before I had even signed the paperwork. I'm thinking "Awesome"

Did a little shopping. Stopped by at about 2 since I wasn't sure if my cell had coverage. Not ready yet. 3rd brake light is hanging, still no HU in, center console is on the floor. Hmm..... Went to lunch.
Went home.

Phone rings at 5... it's ready. 7 hours? Yikes... it didn't take me that long to install a 2004 Camry JBL/nav system into my '03 Tundra.

It's awesome, except the steering wheel controls and rear seat audio don't work. They think they can get the controls working, no go on the rear seat. I don't care... I'll never have people back there :)

There is only one clip that holds the TCM in place, the top hole is unused.2 - Missing top fastener on the heat-sink module attached to the back of the radiator shroud.

No kidding... looks like there is a threaded bushing in the shroud behind it. I wonder why they don't stick a screw in it?

I wondered the same thing? All I know is I have replaced two 06 TCMs already that went completely tits-up. My guess it that the three mounting holes are used in other applications, and the General is just trying to make use of their enormous plastic clip inventory...

Hermmmm.... So... what is the TCM and what happens when it dies?

I told the dealer today not to worry about the missing hardware... mentioned your note, and told him that I heard that the plastic clips (used on the top stack cover) are the same as the inner fender liner and they break "all the time" when replacing the fuel filter... told him I bought a 10 pack for six bucks online from GM Diesel Tech.

I also bought a Fumoto valve. I used the Fram Sure-Drain on the Tundra and really liked it (oops, just realized I left it on when I traded it in, oh well... hope the new owner appreciates it!).
People have been speaking highly of the Fumoto. I never trusted it on the Tundra because the drain bolt was on the very bottom and I was afraid that it might get hit, but on the D'max, it's angled toward the rear and pretty well protected up under the HD's frame.
