: Found this while changing my oil?? Where did it come from???
70 gsconvt 08-26-2005, 03:54 PM Hi, I was changing my oil and found this between the oil pan and skid plate.
I believe it's for the air filter, but I'll be darned if I can find where it's supposed to go. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
A pic is worth a thousand words, so a picture would be great. It wasn't all used up, my daughter decided to put her mouth on the end and suck on it. So now it reads fully clogged. Ahhh, 4 year olds!!
briano 08-26-2005, 03:58 PM goes on your intake tube near the air filter..probably just popped out. passenger side..empy hole before the filter housing.
70 gsconvt 08-26-2005, 04:18 PM Duh, found it. It's on the side of the upper part of the air box. thanks.
dieseldan723 08-26-2005, 04:33 PM How do you use it and what does it tell you?
hotncold 08-26-2005, 04:35 PM Its the air filter change reminder - It tells when your filter shes a dirty.....
turbo-max 08-26-2005, 05:17 PM lol, just push the button on the tip to reset it
jholly 08-26-2005, 05:36 PM never had it work for me, and I pulled some pretty grungy filters out.

Max Power 08-26-2005, 06:26 PM Mine is at 100% every time I turn around. You need more power :D
AndrewFessler 08-26-2005, 09:12 PM Laughs, mine was always showing 100% whenever I ran the edge on L5. I drop kicked the factory OEM paper filter and put in a K&N. Now, the gauge doesnt even budge. :) Wahoo!

.....and as you suck more dirt into your engine using that K&N setup, you'll wish that OEM filter was still there.....
ACDelco OEM paper was shown to be the best overall filter.
JJs DuMax 08-26-2005, 09:39 PM Bacon,
How the h_ll did you get your hands on my Mama JJ's picture? ):h
I WISH! :p: JJ :)

I do remember the filter tests from a while back.
I wanted to hear more turbo and wanted to let a little more air in, without changing the actual in-take.
I don't think that the level of dirt (dust particles) that the K&N lets in, is going to damage the turbo bad enough in my lifetime. If it does, then I'll upgrade to an ATS Turbo on TWINS ;)

:exactly: The reason that the K&N won't show that the filter is plugged is that it doesn't do anywhere near as good a job filtering the crud out of your air supply. Hell, if you really want to remove all the inlet restriction, just run without an air filter! :cookoo: You will notice that she performs pretty good for a short while. Then you will be :cussing:! Running the K&N is about the same, only it will keep the gravel and leaves out!:shootself

PS:
TheBac,
That's the UPS driver that I want delivering my parts!! :devilfing

Andrew,
The dirt won't stop at the turbo, It will get the valves and seats, pistons, rings and cylinder walls too! :Insane:

AndrewFessler 08-26-2005, 09:51 PM Ho hum. No more K&N for me.
JRKRACE 08-26-2005, 09:58 PM Even in my gassers, I switched back to AC Delco and sold the K&N's on Ebay. In fact, my wifes Yukon XL runs a DMAX filter....
Use the OEM filter and swiss cheese the box.
