Just want to officially say thanks to him and Diablo Sport for stepping up to the plate and posting recently in an effort to clarify the confusion over the LLY firmware update process. It's not often that we get first hand info on here direct from a manufacturer.

Obviously Diablo has been watching our site (or someone pointed them to it) and they felt the need to respond. Hopefully they have been reading for a while and the "tweeks" they are doing in the new version are a direct result of some of our postings.

In an effort to keep him around here, might a make a few suggestions??

#1) Don't bombard him with questions that should be taken care of via emails and phone calls to Diablo directly. (There is obviously a glich where some have received an RMA for a return already). He may not know the answer as he is in Marketing - not repairs etc.. Sounds to me like maybe an uninformed employee there is giving out the wrong info, but I'm sure there is probably a procedure in place now to correct it.

#2) Don't bash the fact that you have to pay the $5 or so shipping to return the unit for a FREE software upgrade. As is often, by the time you buy a computer component and get it home there is already a software update for it. When's the last time you got a free software upgrade on anything else?

I have no ties to Diablo, or Nick (never spoke to the man) but all I know is that as a fellow Predator user, I have alot more info now than I had a day ago and it would be a shame to lose his contact on this forum.

I e-mailed diablo sport...no response. I called them....got an RMA # for something that is not available, paid shipping both ways, and now I'm without a programmer. What would make you think that I wouldn't want to ask Nick a few questions? If this is how I get the correct answers, then I'm taking that route. I do expect Nick to post an answer of what is happening with my programmer. I also appreciate that he took the time to come to this site and help us out. I don't feel a couple questions about the mix up that happened will deter him from posting. Nonetheless, the mix up will not deter me from recommending this programmer to others, if I get some answers.

I can see your point - and don't take my post wrong. If I was in your shoes, I'd be doing the same thing. I hope all works out for all of us in the end. I just can't see him carrying on daily business via this forum (or the Mod's letting him do it either), but maybe he'll see this and other similar content posts and reply in another blanket statement as to what will happen to those of you that sent your units in already.

I get free software upgrades from Windows, Norton, Verizon, Cox, and several others virtually every day. I would think that you do to, unless your running WebTV to access this site.

I agree, that shipping costs are a minor issue and I am sure everyone will live through the absence of their beloved programmers!

Out!

Thanks Nick for clearing some things up for us, but I have a new question. I sent my Predator back a couple of weeks ago for the updarte that I thought was available. I got it back yesterday. It now says version 2.02 at startup. Do I have the Beta version or what?

Thanks again!

;)

Anyhow, don't expect Nick to hang around and get flamed. In fact you'll probably see very little of him here...

I can't answer your question directly, but I bought mine about two months ago and its a version 2.0. I tried to get the update for it from Diablo and was told that there wasn't one available. Based on that, I think you have the Beta.
