Well I was on a long trip in my '85 K5 Blazer w/ 6.2L diesel and about a 1/3 of the way into the trip of going over rough roads, long fast roads, and then dirt roads, the driver's side exhaust busted clear through just before the muffler. So now it is pretty loud. I knew it was going to need replacing but was hoping to hold off till fall. I just replaced the passenger side not long ago. So anyhow, am I fine just driving it this way until I can get it replaced? My understanding is that these diesels have to much pressure to worry about any kind of backup or anything. So some input please? Thanks much.

I've seen a few trucks with pipes broken off. No ill affects that I know of. On race cars, we plug the exhaust collectors when we shut the engine off to prevent cold air from migrating up the pipe and warping the valves. Don't think this would happen with a diesel, due to the length and size of the pipe.

Running with one bad and one good pipe is bad news.:badidea: It might not hurt it any but with mine it sure ran rough and i had holes right after the manifold on the drivers side. These engines need equal amounts of pressure and enough to run right. when i threw dual flowmaster 40's under mine she run like a champ. They really run rough and poorly with unequal exhaust pressure.:grd: :exactly:
