I've lurked quite a bit on these forums, trolling whereever I can ( ):h ). I've read about quite a few mods that can be done that would improve the fuel efficiency by 1-2 mpg apiece.
*propane injection
*some sort of free flowing exhaust
*Cold air intake (such as a Volant)
*a tuner
*driving light-footed
In theory, wouldn't this bring mpg up to the mid 20s? What are some other safe mods that can be done to improve mpg without robbing performance?
I've also heard some get an extra mpg or so depending on the motor oil they use. (I.E. synthetic vs. regular). Truth or myth?

First...fill in your sig..and then is your truck over the 10,000 mile mark...after that it will start to gain milage

I don't have the truck yet. Just doing my homework as I don't like to buy anything that's hyped up more than it really is. (so far this truck seems like it may actually be more practical than my current half ton, even for just cruising around town). I do a little bit of towing right now, but I would tow alot more if I had a 3/4.
It's a totally stock '03 2500HD cc/lb d/a 2wd with 40,750. It has: maroon exterior, tan cloth interior (cloth is a must as this will be a work truck part of the time), bose, steering mounted controls, dual climate zones, HD power package (naturally), Ranch Hand rear bumper, front grille guard, spray-in bedliner, Westin nerf bars. Price is marked at $26000, but I'm sure I can get the dealer to sharpen their pencil a little bit....
I've also heard that some sort of bed cover actually can boost mpg noticeably on a long bed. Maybe a lock and roll design would be good as I need the bed from time to time.

Yes, I've already decided propane is the way to go. However, I don't want to stop there if there are additional ways to improve the efficiency of the truck without reducing its power. :)

I have 2 power boxs.
One Power box helped my mileage and one did not.
Taller tires hurt the mileage.
The air box did nothing for mileage,
