I've read a little on the Bio Pros and was wondering if I could use the home made diesel in a
1) Duramax, Powerstroke, or Cummings?
2) Jetta?
3) lawnmowers?
4) home furnace?
5) generator?
6) anything else?
thanks

If they are diesel engines, I dont see why not.

Torpedo heater, hotsy pressure washer,, etc.
Problems you may incur:
1) Older stuff will not have bio compatable fuel lines. The bio will turn older rubber lines into leaking mush. Simple fix, change em.
2) Gel temps. If running 100% you will have a relatively high gel temp.
3) Keeping all that stuff full. LOL

I've used ASTM pump B99 in several LARGE diesel fired heaters (1 million BTU units). The only issues we've had is watching gel temps (we used these to heat/dry houses in the spring so the gelling wasn't sooooo bad) and the need to 'contaminate' it a little to get a darker flame (the bio burned with too light of a flame and it kept kicking the flame sensor...so we put some well filtered used engine oil in to darken it up a bit).

I have a BioPro 190 and have been making biodiesel with my family for almost 6 years now. The BioPro is a great unit and I recommend it. It's built very well and is made to run 24/7. You can run biodiesel in any diesel engine theoretically. I don't recommend it in the LMM though due to the DPF and how the regeneration process occurs. I've run biodiesel in my Duramax LBZ and also in Cummins, Powerstrokes, Internationals, VW TDIs, and even ran a blend of biodiesel/kerosene in a heater with no issues at all.

Adam,
Have you done any testing in mixing BD/Kerosene to see the affects of how the % of kerosene helps with gelling in colder temps?

I haven't done much testing but i usually try around 30-40% biodiesel and the remaining kerosene. I would only recommend this on a heater that is made to burn kerosene/#2 diesel. Some smoke may be visible as well until it gets hot.
