Ok, this is kind of strange. I was getting on the onramp today and while accelerating there was a single "Pop". When it "Popped", the truck briefly lost power (like I took my foot off the gas, then back on), then went back to normal. This is the 3rd time my truck has done this, and it's only done it in the morning getting on the highway under acceleration (about 3/4 throttle). There is no additional smoke when it does it and the truck is at operating temp, and it doesn’t matter what the outside temp is…..I've tried reproducing (mainly in the afternoons), but can never get it to do it when trying. Once it actually "popped" twice (morning, on onramp)…with the same symptoms. I've looked under the hood and everything looks ok, no loose hoses or anything! FYI, the programmer is being used for tire size correction only! No performance tuned installed…..
Is it stealership time?

Mine does about the same thing. I was about to take it in for a checkup at the dealer to see what it is.....

When it when "pop" was there black smoke coming out? Anyways, look at all of your blue/black intercooler flex tubes. Perhaps one is loose?

If not, could be VVT vanes are sticking.

You should remove the Predator and check to see if it continues to do it also.

Ive tried without the predator and it does the same thing. I noticed it the first time with the stock tires/rims and no predator. I just happened to be looking this morning and noticed no black smoke!

Ill have to look a little closer at the intercooler hoses tonight to make sure theyre good & tight!

Looks like Ill have to try and find time to take it in...Censored

Did you check your DTC's with the predator? I'd be willing to bet you will get a EGR Flow code.... Clear the codes and it will be fine.. Mine did it yesterday morning when I left for Bristol with my camper.... Don't know what causes it or anything else, just be willing to bet that's what happened.

Could it be the pilot injection cutting off? You might have this sensation with just the right combination of engine temp. and throttle position. Does it happen around 2700 rpm's?

No black smoke means it is probably NOT intercooler tubing related.

Sometimes mine does it randomly when I accellerate hard with Edge on 5 and when I have less than half a tank of gas. Maybe its just simply some bursting or popping?
However, I was running my block heater cord to the front bumper and when I reached down right by the black intercooler boot to snake the cord thru there, i pulled my hand up and it was all oily. I HATE THE EGR SYSTEM!!!!!!! I dont want all that crap running through my IC and into the engine!

Sorry to disapoint, but the oil is not from the egr. It's the crankcase ventilation and is allways going to happen. Yes the Egr will make the intake dirtier but the oil will still remain. On the LLY the crankcase vent is not vented external like the LB7.Another emissions decision.
