do a search and get ready to see all kinds of different numbers. In the 05 I personally get 13.9 to 14.2. I took a small road trip yesterday 302 miles one way and I got 14.2 at 75-80 just at 2,000 rpm. My 03 is getting 15-18 depending on how it is driven. You will read that people are getting 20-22 but beware of inflated numbers.

Before my new tieres, 21 MPG on the highway if not in big hills and no cruise at 65MPH. Towing a 4500lb boat and trailer 14.5 at 65MPH. I can get up to 22-23 doing 55 empty. Don't know about around town, haven't checked . The 265 Revos knocked off about 1/2 MPG. I lose about 1/2 to 1 MPG with cruise.

Mileage is very dependent on speed and load. If empty, I have seen between 17 and 21--but over 65 mph you have the aerodynamics of a barn conspiring to put that milege to the low end.

Cheers.

We just did a 2,000+ mile trip and 16.8 was the average with a 80mph average driving speed. That was caculated, and it also was my average on the DIC.

Hi, as of 6/30/05 with 41238 miles I used 2341.4 gallons for 17.54 mpg with a 2003 2500 ex cab short box 4x4 allison. Max was 22.4 (DIC was 24.2) min was 10.9 (DIC was 12.3). 43 of 114 tanks have been 18+ mpg and 17 have been 20+ mpg.
Max was this spring on a 515 mile day with CC set at 68 mph, no A/C going from WI to SD and back. Min was towing 10,000# in the winter at -20F. I tow that weight about 4000 miles per year.
Drive slower, ease into it and you get better mpg.

I get 17mpg per gallon but 5mpg of that is thrown out the soot dispenser so it calculates out to 12mpg. :( Oh well, the prices we pay to go big.

nothing done other than what my sig says. It might actually be 2200. On this particular day trip it was my goal to keep the rpms at 2000-2200 to see if the mpg improved any. I hand calculated the MPG, compared to the DIC I was 1.5 mpg less than the dic. Does 2000-2200 seem to be too low. My 03 reads the same at 80, maybe the tires and the speedo are off a little but I programmed it for 34.75" tires. I am going to take a trip to the Highway to make sure I am not lying to the nation.

Out of curiosity, what was your lowest and highest speeds? An 80MPH average says you were driving about 95MPH at least half the time, to make up for interchanges, state roads, passing through congested areas, stopping for fuel, etc.

I average 15-18 mpg around town, but I pull trailers a lot. On the highway under 75mph I get about 19-21 mpg depending on grades. Best ever was 23.5 on highway going 65mph. At cruise on 90mph I get about 16mpg. Pulling my 28 ft camper going 65mph I can get 14.5mpg.

LOL with your new truck. Get ready to dump some cash becuase once you get addicted you won't be able to quit.

I got an average of 16-17 when my truck was stock and had 285 tires. Now I get 18-22 depending on the amount of highway or city driving I do.

If you are driving around town stop and go. Mainly goofing off your mileage will be terrible. Out on the open road you can hang with some of the smaller cars. That's just my exerience.
