Are there any programmers that are able to hide or ignore CEL codes?

Well what kind of codes are you concerned with? EGR, MAF, what exactly?

The code that is always setting off the CEL is p0601. It hasn't changed the way the truck runs or operates and probably won't. So if there is a programmer that can hide or ignore this code, i wouldn't have to look at that orange light on my dash anymore.

That code comes up as an engine control module fault. I'd be more inclined to fix the problem rather then block the code. Has anything gotten shorted or wet in the engine compartment?

uh-oh thats not a cheap code to have. i would agree with blkdmax05 at some point you may get stuck with a dead truck in your driveway or worse yet on the side of the road. get it fixed before you have another problem.

I talked to a local shop today and they are going to try and find an ecu for me. Dealership wants $1300 to replace. No blkdmax05, nothing has gotten wet or shorted under the hood. The CEL would come on intermittenly at first, now it is on all the time. Truck runs fine but it is always in the back of your mind that something could go wrong. Do you guys know of any reliable vendors that sell ecu's? Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder what actually goes wrong in the circuit board of the ecu? Do one of the cold fuses break or lose contact? Does vibration or heat contribute to it's failure?

vibration and heat are somethings uncontrolable that are contributors but there are some other things that can contribute like voltage spikes from battery chargers and connecting a battery charger with the key in the on position can sometimes cause a failure. a short in an electrical component can cause this too.
