Haven't seen the system, but one of the members here said something in another thread about a State in the NE who required California emission equipment on vehicles.
I believe it was your State, and if so, California emission equipted trucks have CAT's and EGR.
Now, anything that comes with the new LLY engine will have both, but the EGR for the LLY is different from the Cal emission equipted LB7. I was also reading another thread saying the CAT for the LLY will be different than the LB7 as well.
Hope that helps.
The 03's with California emissions have cat and EGR. The EGR is a long tube that runs right next to the turbo and air intake tube. Is that what you want to know?

There are essentially two emission packages for 2002 - 2003. The Federal emission package does not have a CAT or EGR. The California Emission package has a CAT/EGR. Some states in the Northeast require the CA package.
You can check your truck really easy. For the CAT, look under the passenger side of the vehicle. You will see the muffler which is large and about 30 inches in length near the rear axle. If you see another large item between the muffler and the engine downpipe, then you have a CAT. Yes it is a big round device before the muffler. If you have the CAT, then you also have an EGR system on the engine. To check for the EGR, look for the following:
A whole bunch of vacuum lines attached on top the fuel filter assembly, immediately above the primer pump.
In the engine, between the turbo and passenger side valve cover, there will be a cylinder like object about 12 inches long with a vacuum solenoid on one end. This is the EGR exhaust gas cooler.
Look way below the alternator. If you see another device being powered by the fan belt, it is the vacuum pump. This device is also only on EGR equipped vehicles.

Thanks for All your input...from your descriptions my unit is equipped with the cat and egr. What prompted me to ask is while under the hood I noticed the bosch injection electronics box that stated it was used with egr, cat etc. Yes, Ive seen where some ne states require it. Oh well, so much for cleaner air and a lousier running truck...guess i'll be changing my oil more regularly than i anticipated...should get sooted up prematurely..http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif cough, cough !!
Thanks guys
