I know a guy that has recently bought a cummins/dodge, it has a bad tranny in it and he is checking around about getting it rebuilt. Is getting it rebuilt stock worth it or should he get it beefed up. If a aftermarket rebuild is best where would he check it out at? Hard telling how much he may tow with it.

Look into Suncoast transmission located in Florida. Over the stock tranny the Suncoast is light and day.

I have an ATS system and love it. Great customer service to if you have questions etc. too. Highly recommend it from first hand experience.

DTT is quite close to you as well.

They have a sweet setup for the Dodge trucks!

I don't know you guys I'm having pretty good luck was a Ford rebuilt $1,900 tranny. The tranny was killed due to the chip at 83K miles and now at 198K miles the rebuilt tranny works perfect. The trucks has had a second huge cooler and a tranny gauge for 10,000 miles.

Used to always think rebuilt tranny's wouldn't hold up, guess I was wrong. Keep wondering how long this tranny is going to last me. The truck gets worked too, plowed in the winter and tows the large dump trailer in the summer.

The only problem that I would see with a stock rebuild on a dodge cummins truck is that the transmission was barely adequite to start with so why not upgrade to try and get some extra life out of it. Not everybody had the trans problems, the tranny guy I worked with at dodge said he felt most of the problems was poor seal design(the lands and such the seals rode in) but he called it job security.
