Has anyone use their LLY tune? Is it switchable for towing? How much for a spare PCM? Does anyone have a Part# for a 05 lly?

I've got an 04.5 lly ccsb with a Westers tune. When I first got it(about 14,000 miles ago) I told them I wanted about a 90 HP tune. I don't have any tranny upgrades so I didn't want to much HP and hose up my tranny. I met with one of their reps from Texas and got an update about 3 or 4 weeks ago and man what a difference it made. I called them back just to see how much power this update should have given me because it was so much different than the original. Lyndon said I should be seeing about 110 hp improvement. Just a couple of nights I raced a ford with some kind of chip and just left him in the smoke.:ro) He is kind of known for having a fast truck and everyone kind of judges their truck by his. He was really surprised at how fast my truck was. I won't just floor it when I take off because I'm worried about the tranny, and he said he could hear my tires breaking loose when I finally layed into it after we were rolling. I've done a couple 360's at some blacktop intersections to show some guys what it could do, and later have to spend quite a bit of time with wd-40 to get the rubber off the back quarterpanel. Sorry for the . As for your other ?'s it is not switchable. You have to send your pcm in or buy a spare to send in. I have no idea what a spare should cost. If you find out please pm me and let me know. I don't think there is a part #, your best bet is to check out the web site http://westers_garage.eidnet.org/Index2.htm and get one of the order forms to fill out and maybe give them a call. I am very impressed with this tune but I am also very worried about my stock tranny. I am really thinking about going to some type of mild tow tune because I seem to be hauling more cattle as of late and I don't want to mess up my transmission with the power that this tune is putting out. If you have any other ?'s just send me a pm and I'll get back with ya as soon as I can.:grd:

Oh yeah baby! Tom just uploaded the biggest tune for the LLY from Westers and is trying it out as we speak. I'll call him in about a half hour and see how it's doing.

Please let us know how it turns out. I would really like to know what someone with some tranny upgrades thinks about his tunes. I'm definately hooked.:ro)

Well I'm just starting to test it but I've never taken rubber into second in 4x4 in a LLY before. More tuning to be done. Still to much timing I think but the track will tell all friday. If we don't get rained out for a theird week.

This sounds very interesting I just ordered A Stage II DTT trans with converter, so I'm looking into a bigger tune. So what do ya do when you tow? Watch the egt and Tranny temp?

I've talked to Lyndon at Westers about the LLY programs. He's getting some really impressive results so it's time for me to try one in my truck :)

We are a Westers distributor if anyone needs a program. I'll extend a 10% discount and free shipping to forum members through September 15th.

I'll probably order as soon as you get those results posted. I'd like a second PCM, though. Do you have them, or is it a trip to the boneyard?

Looking for a dyno that will take all that torque. We may have found one that works on the big rigs.

Does anyone have a Part # for the PCM? What's a ball park cost from the dealer?

Just give your VIN to the dealer & ask parts for the replacement unit number for your truck. And please post a price I got $2200.00CND for one. I'am now looking at the boneyards.

I have good used PCM's for both the LLY and LB7 trucks. They must be programmed before using. LB7 ECM $300.00 USD and LLY ECM $400.00 USD

Wow this sounds pretty awesome...I assume (hope) it would stack well with harness-type boxes such as the Edge, no? LB7 guys have the awesome TTS Extreme...maybe this Westers tune could be just the ticket for us LLY guys...

Well now that you ask I'm working on two Westers builds for the LLY. One just Westers the other stacked with the edge.

I get my truck flashed next month, should be a good step up from just a Predator. The nice thing about the PCM flash is that the program is constaly being improves, like bourbon it gets better with age.

Man, I'd pay big money to the guy(or gal) that figures that out! Well maybe we don't want it completely out, I'd want the tranny to live for at least a season. The defueled shifts sure suck when trying to bracket race.

If the defuel comes out completely you will smoke a tranny in no time..
The code needs to be written so that it will defuel at the proper time and allow for clean gear changes without babbling the shift.
If you don't get the defuel and everything else right it will hang on a shift, ask anyone with the "BIG VA"...........

Good Luck,

You guys will catch us soon enough I think.

Defuel is a trans signal & cannot be writen out with a PCM flash. With a built tranny all most all of the defuel goes away on it's own or at least with a DTT stage II.

PPE has writen defuel out on their LB7 PCM program, must be hard on trans though......

I guess the results are less then stellar. If the tune worked great we would surely have heard about it.

I contacted them about a tune and had very minimal help. One word answers to my questions. Maybe because I'm from the states? Who knows, but the customer service that I experienced sucked.

Like most products, they all have their pro's and con's. Meanwhile, we will all continue in pursuit of the "magic pill". It is what keeps us hungry and looking for more...

i spoke with Lyndon and he was extremely helpful. he continues to say the mileage tune will get 23+ mpg (from people who have LLY and LB7), and says you also gain horsepower. But he did mention the engine would be louder at cruise, must be something with timing? Maybe someone can explain. He also mention a GMC dealer installing in over 20 trucks with positive results.

more research needs to be done. lyndon did say they where looking for dealers/reps in every state (his goal). At $495 per tune, if the results are that great you will get your money back fast especially since I am now paying $3.16/gal in chicago.

DURAtotheMAX

hmmm louder in cruise? It most likely messes with Pilot-Injection...or just shuts it off completely...
