Garmin and Magellon arguably make the better products. My Garmin serves its purpose and has come in really handy on a few cases. For a few more $100's, I could have bought something way better. The quest can be portable. You can assign a position (parking space) and take the Quest with you. When you are trying to find your car later, it will guide you back. It is not 100% accurate either. It helps directing you out of suburbia, but if you need to find 101 1/2 washington st. suburbia, usa, it will lead you really close, but not exactly there. Anyway, check out both the Garmin and Magellan websites and look over what they have to offer. You can beat their online prices by just doing an online search. I would give my Quest 4 stars on a 5 star system.

I have the Garmin c330 I believe is the model number. It's great I love it, I had the tomtom for a week and it was a piece of garbage. No problems with garmin at all.

I have a Garmin hand held also, but If you have a laptop I recommend DeLorme. It works great for planning trips and the GPS tracking lets you know you're on course and how far away you are. A lot of other cool stuff too.

I have a Garmin Etrex Vista C (color). It's a hand held, and it Works pretty well. I had to spring for some extra software to get it to do navigation in the cities and such, but I was looking for small portable so I could mount it on the handlebars of my snowmobile. Regardless of what you're looking for though, www.gpscity.com (http://www.gpscity.com) is a good place to get one. I would recommend going with a RAM mount if you need a mounting bracket, cause the're tough little fellers! That's my $0.02

I have a Garmin iQue 3600. Put 2 GB SD card in it and you can have street level detail across the entire country and a large color screen that holds address and phone number info and plays MP3s...it is also a PDA. You may even be able to load Banks' new power pack thing into it!

I like if better than the Streetpilot my friend bought for $1k.

my vote goes in for the Garmin Ique 3600 also, Or I guess they have a new model M5 that is bluetooth and pocket PC instead of Palm based. Both units under $1K and do so much more than a nav only unit.

I have a Magellan Roadmate 700. It's identical to the Hertz "neverlost" system. I absolutely love it. It does have a few glitches though, restaurants that are no longer in business are still listed, Etc. They now have a model 760 that is out. Hopefully they fixed some of the previously mentioned glitches. I bought the unit from Costco on line and a mount and external antenna on Ebay.

I highly recommend it.

I have the Garmin 2610. Mounts in the truck, Harley or my Quad. Would not leave home without it.

I have the 2610 also and it works great.

Have a mount for the big truck, the little truck, and the Harley.

Punch in where you want to go and it gets you there. :ro)
