Crawled under my truck tonight and noticed the tranny crossmember and tranny pan had an abundance of fluid on them. Looked around and on the top of the tranny near the transfer case is what I am assuming is a vent (someone please confirm or deny this). This is where the fluid appears to be coming from. I did climb a couple steep hills lately while off roading. Could the fluid in the tranny flow to the rear enough to leak out of the vent while climbing the hills? Or do I have another issue. Fluid level appears normal.

Yes there is a vent and most likely it just vented some fluid when your tranny temp came up. I've seen this a few times when the transmission was filled to the high side on the stick.

Mine was leaking about the same way and it ended up being a cracked extension housing. I would just keep an eye on it.

Ive blown some off the top when hammering up some steep logging roads. Aint no biggie.

Sounds like a little too much fluid in the sump. It will eventually get to the proper level by itself. Was the Ally serviced recently? I never fill to the top mark anymore because of this.

Tranny has not been serviced recently and I do recall the fluid being on the high side prior to this. Plan on changing fluid at 50k to Schaeffers and maybe a new cooler. ATS stage ? in the distant plans.

Mike L., how about a PM with the price of that tranny cooler, that should give me some time to save my quarters (tried saving pennies, but never had enough to buy anything).
