I want to bring my truck in for repairs. I want to yank my edge and hook a guage to the edge pyro probe. What guage will work (proper resistance) with the Edge pyro probe/sensor?

Where can I buy one online and how much?

If you're that worried, unscrew the probe, remove it and replace it with a plug. Home Depot Watts A-710
PB109 1/8" square head plug

LOTS cheaper than messing with a gauge

I've been considering the option of a guage that will work with the Edge probe as well.

If the idea is to prevent possible problems over the Edge having been installed, a plug in the exhaust manifold is a bit too obvious in my opinion.

They couldn't say a whole lot about you wanting to monitor EGT, but if you've got engine or trans problems, go into the dealer and it's got a plug in the exhaust manifold, well.....

I believe they are all "K" type. They all work.

I RAN THE AUTOMETER AND HOOKED BOTH THE EDGE AND THE AUTOMETER UP ON THE SAME PROBE......READS FINE....WORKS FINE.....READS THE SAME

Rickles, you mean you just hooked your Edge pyro leads onto the existing leads for your Autometer? Hmmm I wonder if that would work for my Isspro pyro? It -does- have a signal amplifier box.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Ermm.gif

The majority of the K type thermocouples out there are grounded type. There are a few (SPA for example) who require an ungrounded probe.

A gauge requiring an ungrounded probe will not function with a grounded probe.

A gauge that accepts grounded probes will function fine with an ungrounded probe.

As a rule,1 gauge per probe. You may see satisfactory results with 2 gauges hooked up, but it is not correct. Depends how precise you want to be. A lot will depend if either gauge used loads the thermocouple...

JK,

How can you tell the difference if you have one in your hand? VOM?

Yes, you can "Beep" a grounded probe.

Hook up a grounded probe to your SPA and it will work fine until you thread it in.

So what would be a "cost freindly" guage to run with the suppiled EDGE probe for the attitude??? is the autometer the only one? whats teh cost of this autometer guage and does anyone have a part number?

i had the same idea if i need to go in for service, hook the probe to the Aux guage instead, remove juice and attitude, all the dealer can say is i have a EGT guage big whoop, no harm no foul!

Does anyone know if the edge probe will work for the SPA?
Also would the driver side install indicate hotter because of restrictions in the manifold? I ask as I have both SPA and Attitude. I assume that Edge heats up much quicker than SPA because of probe diameters. I would like to interchange the probes to see if things stay consistant. SPA never tops out close to Edge temps as is now.
