Had to replace my second battery! The passenger side went out last year while under warranty and the stealer replaced it . Now with just 40K miles and out of warranty the drivers side started leaking. Due to the fact that this is a "factory battery" with a grey lable the 72 month pro rated warranty is not valid. I hope that Delco fixed this problem.

Just curiois, why isn't 72 month warranty still valid?

Their explaination was, that if it is a factory battery, it is covered only by the warranty period of the vehicle. Which in my case was 3 yr. 36 mo. Neither the dealer or the auto parts store would budge on this even though the battery was marked 72 month.

Do yourself a favor and put in a couple good batteries. I have red top Optima's and could not be happier.

Maybe the word I am after is typical, not normal. Your battery leak story is no surprise around here.
3 GM vehicles and all 3 factory batteries have leaked, and 2 more prior these. Be careful, the acid starts corroding your battery cable ends. I have had to replace the battery AND battery cables on one of mine.
Most people learn of the problem when they are stranded and the vehicle won't start. Me included.
