Anybody know what the weight capacity of the tailgate is?
I routinely use a ramp to load my bike (approx. 1050lb total) in and out of the truck and want to make sure the braided wire cables that keep the tailgate level are going to last.
Additionally, any idea of the load capacity for the four corner tiedown points? I can't find anything in my owners manual or anybody at the dealership that knows.
Thanks,
Steve

At work I load and unload pickups with heavy machined flanges, these flanges are solid pieces of stainless and are usually 4 feet in diameter and about 9 inches thick. A couple of our vendors trucks are silverados and although Ive expected it the tailgate has never broke. I have to put it square on the tailgate and the whole rear end drops with the weight of it. These babies are strong ive tested it. As far as the tiedowns you shouldnt have a problem with them either. These are Heavy Duty trucks that are meant to work hard they can handle whatever you throw at them. Hope this helps

Newbies:

A few of us convinced Victory Red to make another batch of VRStraps for the tailgate. These straps replace the cables, and are a hell of a lot stronger.

PM him for price and availability....

It's not THAT strong, but I think it's not bad. I bent the crap out of mine...or well the guy that put a bundle of fence posts right on the tailgate! :banghead:

When you hear sounds at a lower extent of a vehicle crash, then that is your tailgate bending breaking off!!

What Tom Said. I never felt good about the tailgate untill I put the stainless straps on.
