Who makes it and is it a good oil to use in comparison with others? Thanks.

k1xv 08-21-2005, 05:15 PM Castrol is a world wide company that makes its own. They have been around for a long, long time and their products are as good as anyone elses in my opinion. Just make sure you buy a product that meets the Duramax specifications in the owners manual. 88Magnum 08-21-2005, 05:39 PM I just bought some Castrol 15w-40 "Tection Extra" today....I could have bought the Rotella, but the quantity was more convenient for the Castrol...Bought it at one of those big warehouse club stores....It is marked API CI-4 Plus, CI-4, CH-4, CG-4, and CR-4/SL.....Does this meet GM's Duramax requirement? I lost my diesel supplement to my owner's manual.. No complaints so far. WilliamBos 08-21-2005, 08:03 PM Hey, Yeah John Force uses it, except he uses Straight 90 synthetic, and it gets changed every pass. Just don't pay the extra for the syntec, its not a real synthetic, its a hydrocracked dino oil!! And the same for Quaker state!! Take care, Will | ||
